JACK ARMY, scanning my sector!

Gravatar The time to work out an alternative solution was after the phone call. Teachers aren't in the enforcement business (at least they shouldn't be). It seems that it would have been much easier to let the phone call happen, then do the administrative thing afterwards. Nothing would have been hurt by sending the young man out in the hall to let him finish the conversation, and nothing was gained by suspending him for an inocuous breach of the rules that was escalated by the school staff.

I attempted to contact the school by phone all day (though my Pacific time zone was an impediment), with no response. Guess they really do stick to that policy of no phone calls during school hours.

Gravatar This whole thing reminds me of how much I hated high school. Actually, it was idot teachers and principals like that who made me not want to go to college, so maybe this isn't such a bad thing for a recruiter like you?

Gravatar The problem with trying to teach children in school tolerence is the fact that school policy is in MOST situations is "ZERO TOLERENCE"

Gravatar I agree with you completely! Cracker Barrel is good eats.

Gravatar Should we really be sending mother's overseas to fight our wars? Should we consider bringing back the draft?

Gravatar Enforcing absolute rules without tolerating exceptions breeds injustice. François was right in answering his mother's call and resisting hanging her up. I'd be proud if my daughter would have reacted as him.
In this case, the purpose of prohibiting the use of cell phones inside the school, may be presumed to be avoiding frivolous phone calls and the disturbances of the body of students phoning without discrimination. Neither is the case.
But the matter lies in asking oneself, what kind of self appointed busibody has the heart to rule out a soldier to render a phone call to his children while in school hours?
I have not. And I clearly see that the teachers behaviour has nothing to do with the common good.
If the school board pretends François to learn to let his mother down, I am sure this fine young man will proof them wrong.
