This does not relate to the post at hand, but I wanted to let you to know that I had never heard about "Books for Soldiers" I went to their site through your link and liked what I saw. I have a lot of friends in the military and some have just returned from overseas. I put up a banner on my site for their cause and just wanted to thank you for bringing this awesome service to my and other reader's attention.

As part of my self imposed rehab from my little "conflict" thirty some odd years ago, I worked (and still am working) with kids 12-20 years old that had fallen in the drug war our nation is waging and losing.

Many of these kids, I kept up with and continued helping as I could
after hey were released. Many of them are the "conflicted felons" that our Military won't touch.

Well, I have a thought about that. These kids, almost to a "Man" are more mature, more determined to make something out of themselves, more savy about self disipline and force of character, than most college graduates I have met or known.

So...draw what ever conclusion you want, I know mine.

well this is the skinny, Been in recruiting for over 11 years, still fighting the war averaging 2-4 (bodies) contacts a month all by myself. I have always believed and conformed with the (leadership) above me...I am starting to have a problem though,,,,I have alot of fellow nco's and alot of my "future" now "past" soldiers that have died in combat in the sandbox. Yes I know the stats I (sell) no wait I lead them into it everyday. I can see a war with a purpose but i have yet to see anything good come out of this campaign... yes the women there now have more freedom, yes they now have better schools, yes no one is getting stoned for stealing a chicken, but guess what??? is our presence therereally going to make a difference long term? well for the US anyways?...look at the gaza... nothing has changed in 1000 years? well enough said I guess i will keep selling...oh wait leading new young men and women into "my army"..or should we change the name of the military in general to the "Bush Brigade?) I will always stand by and believe in the 'warrior ethos however how long can we keep it going...soon enough the draft will have to come...and it ain't like back then...close the borders..take care of our own first..if we spent 1/3 of the defense budget to restrict incoming """"tourist, students' businessmen/women, and tracked them like other countries do...imagine the possibilities....lets become self supportive...we are the the greatist nation in the world , lets act like it.
and to all those that want to pick apart my post screw you it's almost 2:30 am and I started my day at 0700 so I apologize about spelling and grammar.
