I refuse to believe that there's not some type of local ordinance at the very least to prevent harassment of those in a private function. Local PD ought to be able to detain him for something, I think.

The guy is like the men you'll find shouting on street corners in big cities. He's utterly insane, yet nobody will do anything since it's apparently his right to be insane and reduce everyone else's quality of life.
Problem is, unlike the guy on the street corner, this nut actually has followers (mostly family, must be some sort of weird defective gene)and the means to travel.
Wouldn't want to be him on judgement day...
As much as i'd love to hold the asshat down while someone pounds him, or have someone hold him while I pound him, I'm rapidly to the point that I will merely settle for pictures of it.
Guys like Phelps want to keep playing fuckaround-fuckaround. Pretty soon, well, you know the rest.

This idiot showed up at a funeral last weekend here in Alabama. One of my fellow bloggers went to the funeral with other supporters and got some pictures. Here is the link to what he posted on his blog about it. http://www.idlehourwebs.com/tribute/
Depending on what town your in there are probably various ordinances that can be used against him. And that's really what needs to happen. Arrest him for disturbing the peace or whatever and then give him a court date. Do this in every town he protests in. Soon enough he'll be too busy with nuisance summons to protest anywhere.
The other way to go after him is to try to get his church investigated by the IRS. He's been disavowed by the Baptists. The guy is such a wack job that I'm sure something could be found in his tax returns.
He's not all that bright it would seem. I'm sure it would be pretty easy to outsmart him with a little collective effort.
This guy has to be an idiot. How in the world can he call himself a preacher I will never know. I sure would have thought that the law could do something to this group.
Well, the same thing that gives him the right to make an ass of himself, gives us the right to stand in front of him so he can't be seen making an ass of himself.
There should be a phelps watch made so that counter protestors can be mobilized where ever he threatens the funerals of our dearly departed patriots.
