The Air Force is supposed to be going with tan desert boots as well. I'm so glad. I like the shiny black for Honor Guard, but for my job of Airframe Maintenance, it makes no sense. They get all scuffed up constantly and also the polish rubs off on the hangar floor, or the jets...
I have the Corcorans, Bellviles and Rocky's...the last two through RFI.
I like the Rocky boots the best.
If I go through RFI too many more times I will be able to open my own Army surplus store when I get out.
About the ACUs how do you feel about the skill badges? I don't wear mine...as it's a pain.
Another thing, personally I think the nametapes need to be sewn on. Either that or go to a leather name tag (like aviators) on the right side that velcros on and could include name rank and skill badges
How about a picture of you in your new duds?
Yeah, I'd be very interested in how those things wear...and how soon before some SGM starts making guys press and starch 'em.

Hubby got a deal on his boots, they had his size, but the pair had been special ordered by someone who rejected them. He said they were the best fitting boots he's worn to date. No break in time at all.
I was in a mobile intelligence unit in the Air Force back in 91. Got there just after the war ended. Still, our unit had a heavy precense in Saudi and were rotating people in and out.
We were one of the first units in the military to be issued the 3-color BDUs vice the chocolate chips and were also given the suede desert boots with the heatsink built in.
The moment I put those boots on all I could think of was Mike Myers doing Barbra Streisand: "Like buttah!" I loved those boots!
SGM won't require anybody to iron them because 1) It ruins the anti-wrinkel treatment and 2) It melts the velcro! We had a guy find out the HARD way what happens when you iron them!

LOL I also think they look like PJ's... and I'm not fond of the colour of da boots... but hey - what do I know.
