I don't think someone who is running for President should be out protesting regardless of the cause.
Those who are running for President are already in a position within the government to start effecting change. They're much more in such a position than the average Joe Protester at the street corner. So why in heck are they not using where they're at to see that changes are made where they feel it is necessary?
Then, of course, I think if you're going to stand at the corner holding a sign, you should at least know WHAT you are protesting. And I don't just mean what other people told you.
I see a lot of people who are protesting the military doing this and that. Evil recruiters and all of that. But half of the people don't know what they're talking about because they never bothered to learn more than what their comrades told them, and the other half really don't give a rat's ass as long as they get to protest SOMETHING.
In today's day and age, there should be no excuse not to have details about your cause. If you want to protest the School of the Americas / WHINSEC, go and see what it's all about first. Read about it online, at least.
Everyone in the US has a computer they can use to access the Internet. EVERYONE. Whether that computer is in their own home, at school, or at the library. Even at a friend's house. There is no such thing as a person who has no computer accessible to them in the US anymore. Look things up. Get different points of view. Don't just repeat what others are saying because you will look like a moron. Just like our Presidential hopeful here.

Bottom line is he truly believes that the Department of Peace should replace the Department of Defense. What he doesn't grasp is the the DoD believes in peace, but through superior firepower!
The left has been trying to shut the school of Americas for what 20 plus years. lol The never more on. The left is still living in the past.

If we're lucky, he'll take you up,on your offer and go to one of those countries you mentioned. Then, our problems will be over. They will be singing the song, "Did he ever return, did he ever return, and his fate is still unknown..."
We are retired at FB -- one protestor pointed out to the local news that there were "fences and barbed wire" at the gate they protest at (they are confined to one gate) and said that showed what was being taught at FB. I wanted to slap the idiot, because the fenced gate and barbed wire are there ONLY when these knuckleheads show up. The God Bless Fort Benning counter event drew 3000 plus people and grows bigger each year and drowns out these morons.
