JACK ARMY, scanning my sector!

I went to a GS cookie drive a couple of years ago to send cookies to the troops. I got to talking to one of the soldiers there and he asked me if I had been in Vietnam(I'm 52 now). I told him no, I was up for the draft when the war ended, but I wished I could join up now. He told me I looked like I was still in pretty good shape and I laughed and said I'd never make through boot. He grinned and said they'd get me a waiver. A little while later I thought to myself, dang, I wonder if he was serious. Maybe he was getting a free box of cookies for each recruit.

Maybe they'll get someone in my office that knows OCS packets.

Tried to help, but only have one son, but the local recruiter did successfully get him in, with only one minor lie about the sign-up bonus. Like he was going to get one and when all was said and done he was told he didn't qualify for it (6 year enlistment...think he did) because of the school he qualified for. Evidently you only get the bonus if your a complete moron, who shouldn't have a gun in your hands, but if you can actually achieve something and help the Army you don't get one. NICE

Nice site.
I was one of the poor fools that got nailed on this. There are quite a few disgruntled employees of Big Army today. The general feeling is "we already did our time in USAwreck your life". USAREC is shelling out a TON of money this, and I really don't think it will produce the results they are looking for. At least I'm only going 1 hour away, some guys are going cross country.
