It's a vicious cycle. When upper level people find someone who can get stuff done they tend to load more stuff on them whether it's their job or not. They take the path of least resistance on the road to putting checkmarks on their do list.
An unintended consequence of getting noticed as a person who gets shit accomplished is getting more shit, sometimes someone elses.
