There seem to be two main factions within the military. Both factions favour military rule. Both factions are un-Islamic but are prepared to use Islamic groups when it suits them. One faction is prepared to talk to the Americans. The other faction totally distrusts the Americans and believes that the CIA toppled Suharto. Which faction might favour attacks on churches?

Agree with you though on the fundamentalism. They showed the public floggings that took place in Aceh at the weekend on Metro TV. Unbelievable.

And have a look at the top of p3 in today's JP. 2 years in jail for praying in Indonesian and not Arabic.
