They said, if you cant wait for two weeks then you can try some of the following numbers ~ all of which have been proven to work with some of their cards:

Oh, and by the way, I am buggered because HSBC PINs are all six digits and not the four you've given me. Still it's the thought that counts.

Does living too long in Jakarta sap the common sense out of you?

YOU forgot your PIN not HSBC. When you receive your new PIN keep a copy somewhere. No doubt you also won't remember in your senility where you have kept the copy next time. So post it somewhere on this blog.

Also why didn't you just use the funds on the card when you were in a restaurant. On my recent vist to Indonesia I noticed the majority of restaurants still take signatures and don't require your PIN.

Hey, don't blame me. I have used the card to make purchases, but what if I need cash? And I only presume that my PIN is forgotten because what I thought it was (as written down) didn't work. Could HSBC have changed it?

i could have mentioned a good friend, a long-term expat here, who went to get some cash from his bank account only to find that they'd changed the account number without telling him. Now he knows why his account was empty. The problem is that he has to backtrack and get all concerned to repay him.

Then there is another expat who went to his branch of Permata Bank in Plaza Senayan only to find that it had been closed without notifying the customers.

Is this any way to do business? Please bear in mind that sometimes you need to take my posts with a pinch of salt because I may only be trying to highlight issues. In this post I'm sounding off with what is. And, most would agree, shouldn't be.
