I too read this morning and was left shaking my head.

"They started planning this wonderful scheme to attract more tourists as long ago as last September"? No wonder! There was this Trend Indonesia 2007 Expo at Kuala Lumpur 10 to 13 Nov recently showcasing Indonesian products and producers, together with an Indonesian Cultural Concert on 11 Nov evening. Both appeared "big" events, officiated by no less than the Indonesian Minister for Tourism and supposedly a teaser for Visit Indo 2008. But there was no promo whatsover on the events in the local media, not even a small poster to announce such big happenings. Many of us (Indonesians doing business in Malaysia) and our friends from the Malaysian corporate sector only got to know about the events through a faxed (repeat faxed) invite, a day earlier (repeat a day earlier), on 9 Nov, when most had lined up our schedule for the weekend. Bravo!

Please remember that Indonesia is like a child, charming and lovable but with no logic, no responibility (that's for someone else) live for the present attitude. Don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed. It always takes time to grow up, and remember as a kid it was always someone else fault. One day things will change just not today.
Cheers GJ

Unbelievably smart to come up with such thoughtful logo. Unbelievably fast, the logo has graced all official websites.
Then what?
As usual Indonesia only takes care the facade values without thinking the whole concept to really promote the culture&tourism. If the neighbor Malaysia doesn't hear anything about the promotion, let alone me who lives thousand miles away!
PS: I know people who are involving in the making of the advert of Visit Indonesia 2008, and from their story about how our Ministry (and the Minister) behaving, now wonder we're so behind everybody.
