Couldn't agree more, this country is slipping down a rather unpleasant road right now.
I can live with the ignorant drivers, just about, but turning a blind eye to burning places of worship is not something this government should be doing at all, it only leads to bigger problems later on. Many of the bombers rounded up in the past couple of years started their careers burning churches.
If SBY can't stamp this nonsense out now while it is still in its infancy he will have shown himself to be very weak indeed. He is capable only of talking a good fight but for an ex-general in Suharto's army he seems awfully intimidated by kampung mobs and rabble rousers.
By the way did you know Tom Robinson decided that he wasn't actually gay after all?
It's difficult when politics is becoming increasingly mixed up with religion, or, at least, one religion. Respect for the minority's rights have never been really upheld here. I can only foresee more social unrest and clashes if the govt bends over backwards to appease the intolerant extremists.

T, think taliban regime, saddam regime and what they did to the kurds. I fear what is happening in Indonesia may lead us into something similar, and if (i am still hopeful, thus the word if and not when) it does, it will put us in deep shit.
I hope not though, however cynical I may be, I still have somewhat hope in my my heart, and I still choose to believe in the good in people, I hope it prevails.
