In English, an ass is either a mini-horse or a silly person, a fool. The other, American, meaning is 'arse' in British English.

Calling someone a 'dumbass' or 'silly ass' is tautology/unnecessary repetition.

I'm sure you'll have noted that I do try sometimes to write to the aspirations of my pseudonym.
