Are there really any fewer cars on the so-called "car free" days? Not so as you would notice, there seem to be just as many, it's just that they're all clogging up the peripheral streets in CO2 emitting traffic jams and going in long circuitous routes to avoid the diversions thus consuming much more petrol and producing much more pollution.

Rather defeats the purpose I would have thought, but then it's never actually about reducing emissions is it? It's always about the statement and the optics.

That's why I can never take the Green Movement seriously.
