Also, may I recommend Roy Beck's The case against Immigration. No matter where you fall on the issue it's a good read.

On what do you base your assertion? I can back mine up with studies (and yes I'll submit that you can back up anything with a study). I specifically recommend Roy Beck's the case against immigration. It's pretty well cited and researched. The points I make in this piece are borrowed from him.
I'm also working on a history book and I'll share one tidbit I've run across. Pre-civil rights movement blacks in America (50's-early 60's) had attained something on the order of 70% middle class status. Within ten years that number had dropped to below 30% and I think it stands at around 60% today.
The immigration laws were relaxed in 1965. You tell me, what caused this radical shift in their status?
Forget this debate, it is ridiculous! People are trying to say the U.S will crumble without slave labor? Hmmm, where have I heard that one before? Oh yeah, that would be the Civil War!
Look get over the idiotic rhetoric that is out there and think for yourselves people, our economy will adjust. Our economy always adjusts, why do you think that before women entered the market place there only needed to be one bread winner? I will tell you, because the economy adjusts, so know there is a driving force for a two income family. Was that clear enough for you to understand how things work? you cannot have HALF capitalism, if you mess with supply and demand you are rigging the market. Trust me, I will pay an extra eight dollars a year for vegetables so that the farms can increase wages 40%. I will go further, I will be willing to pay 20.00 extra per year! I will even be willing to spend an extra 50.00 per year, how about you?
