Everybody talks about denying citizenship to the children of illegal aliens. But what about the children of legal aliens (ie. persons admitted to the US as permanent residents, as well as people in the US on valid student, work, or tourist visas).

Hey Jim,
Thanks for your comment.
Your joking right? Do you really think that citizenship derives from putting your feet on the dirt of the United States?
To me, citizenship derives from citizenship. Become a citizen and your children become citizens. No citizenship = no citizenship for you and your family.
Without that commitment what the hell do you have. In our area of Chicago citizens of Mexico protest laws that American citizens desire but are uncomfortable to them, remember, they are not citizens...They have no say, none whatsoever. Yet our politicians pander to folks who ARE NOT CITIZENS!
Merely managing to get in is no basis for citizenship.

Why is the phrase "and subject to the jurisdiction thereof" in the Citizenship Clause enclosed within a PAIR OF COMMAS, with the first comma placed before the coordinating conjunction "and"?

I think about the illegal immigrant's children as much as they think of mine.
