I saw some pics of this rally and some of the comments...how ungrateful most of these illegal immigrants seem. They take a prideful stance of you need me. I doubt it. America did fine on its on with immigrants pouring in LEGALLY.

On a side note, I was at the minute man rally in Washington last month. As Gilchrist threatened to unseat any representative who did not genuflect to the minutemen, he had a crowd of about 50 backing him up. That was kind of funny.
Complacency, thy name is Americans. I'm glad you were there Dave. Hopefully rallies like yesterday's will wake more people up to how important this issue is for all of us.
And 100,000 people is HUGE! The aerial photos on the news really put it in perspective, to see several city blocks literally stuffed with people.

Are you crazy? Where you really there? American flags were at least as numerous as Mexican or other flags! Organizers asked for people to bring those flags and the people responded. The wish to be citizens and the claim to it through years of hard work was stated over and over in the speeches.
If you had only been there with open ears and eyes, instead passing through it with a fixed mind and hardened heart.
First, I acknowledged that American flags were present. I also thought they looked like props. The flags the folks I saw and talked to cared about was the Mexican flag. That's what I saw, that's what I reported.
hmm, Illegal Imigration is a problem faced by all countries, even the ones where you expect people to acctualy migrate from. India for example, i know for a fact that many indians are illegaly in the Us, but there are also a lot of nepalees and bangladeshes who are illegaly living in India..

The poster talked about having to earn the rights of being an American. It's not earning something if you happen to be born into it.
A lot of people at the rally were young...from little children to tons of high school students. I think they really do love this country. There are so many high school aged "illegals" in this country who have been here since they were babies--they only know how to love this country, and I believe they do.
And to the person who says that the American flags were props--they weren't props any more than (and probably less than) the American flags everyone wore on their shirts for the few weeks after 9/11. We all cry patriotism when it's convenient, and then we go back to trying to pay less taxes, not voting, and really not doing anything to make this country a better place.

I was not talking about the crowd waving flags of whatever denomination, I was referring to the politicians who encouraged those who are in this country ILLEGALLY to demand legalization (a term which in and of itself indicates that the law has been broken) as if it is their right. IT IS NOT.

No, it's not. My father immigrated here legally and became a citizen 8 years later, having EARNED what I had at birth.
