Now you're getting Wiggy with it

Gravatar Umnnnhhh...

We could bring the Spirit of Edmund Burke, too! And get there on Buckley's yacht.

Gravatar It never ceases to amaze me how journalists (and others) can be perspicacious and perspicuous on some issues, but maliciously mindless on others.

Rand never wrote anything remotely as absurd as you appear to believe. Your treatment of her is an empty smear that demonstrates zero reasoning skills. On this issue you write as you read, how generally do you repeat that error?

The decent thing for you to do would be to actually read her material, and think it through step by step, page by page, instead of merely monitoring your emotional responses to what she has written and then presume your superficial interpretation is her meaning.

Gravatar Actually, Rn, unfortunately I have read most of her fiction, including Atlas Shrugged.

You're right, she's beyond parody.

Gravatar ...leaving the question: was your parody imitation-as-flattery or merely expository of your superficial emotional interpretationaloidism?

Gravatar In Ayn Rand’s first draft of Atlas Shrugged, the revolutionary motor John Galt
destroyed to deny it to the socialist looters originally was to have been fueled
by a powerful mixture of sheer audacity and the will to act on one’s creativity
that arises from an objective understanding of reality, all catalyzed by purely
selfish motivation. Because Rand had exceeded her cowardly publisher's pre-set
"didactic limit," she reluctantly changed the fuel to "atmospheric electricity

Gravatar I read a book of short papers edited and a few of them were Ayn's work. There is quite a bit of sound reasoning and sound conservative principals in those works. One of the papers was written by a then obscure economist by the name of Alan Greenspan. I recall her ridiculing the notion that Woodstock was a bigger event than the lunar landings, how deserved such notions.

However, those I know who have absorbed the Randy philosophy are often nutters and from the history of the conservative movement Ayn absorbed too much of Ayn.

I am with Widgey on this one, the idea of hanging out at a Rand convention amuses me greatly.

Gravatar Yah--and Greenspan's "will to power" worked out real well in his stew-erd-ship of the Fed.

Bubble stocks, bubble housing, bubble debt.

Wow.

Gravatar Double, double toil and trouble ; Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.

Gravatar Actually some time when I have the time it would be great to dash out a parody of this neurotic's work.

The reason people read Rand is the same reason many -- but not most -- people go to church. That is to get justification for their self-centered motivations. At least the Rabd Robots are up front about it.

Gravatar Hey, let me know, I'll be in DC on the 6th!
