Now you're getting Wiggy with it

Gravatar It seems that nobody is going to be satisfied until someone is fired, which to me seems excessive. Its just another way for the people in Waukesha to continue to vent because they don't like Larry Nelson. As if nobody who has called for this firing has ever made a mistake at their job.

I think a reprimand and a written warning should suffice, especially if the employee in question hadn't had any previous problems or slip ups like this. I would hate to see a good employee (again assuming they were one) lose their job over this, especially considering the Feds told them it would be ok to turn in the application late. Shouldn't some of the anger be placed at the federal bureaucracy? Why nobody has been calling there federal legislators is beyond me.

What people are forgetting is that the department of public works was without a director for the time period leading up to and after the application date. I have no inside knowledge whether this played a role or not but it is something to consider.

Gravatar Jeff, had the city made some sort of announcement that the appropriate city employee was being disciplined in some fashion at the time, then I think it would be a dead issue.

As for why anyone should blame the feds is beyond me. I knew this change was coming. The city knew this change was coming. Who didn't know this was coming?

Finally, if we cannot hold the people running the government accountable for when the government screws up, who should be accountable? (One of the reasons why I argue against a city administrator, by the way.)

If Nelson doesn't want to take the blame, maybe he or his city administrator should've followed through on the issue.

Gravatar I was up pretty late last night and despite having my windows closed and living in the town, I could hear the train whistles heading towards the city, going through the city and exiting the city (lived in the city long enough to know). Disciple would produce a name and a name would draw a lynch mob. Somehow I think this might be protectionism of the person who screwed up.

Gravatar Discipline would produce a lynch mob.

Gravatar "It seems that nobody is going to be satisfied until someone is fired"- when I run work and someone makes a big mistake, MY bosses don't want someone fired, they just want to know that the one who made the mistake realized just what the heck they did, that I'm making a point of "watching" them from now on, and that we make corrections in the way things are handled so that hopefully this same type of problem doesn't happen again. My bosses want me to hold SOMEONE accountable (starting and ending with myself as job super). Looks like Mayor Larry's "bosses" want him to hold SOMEONE accountable as well... If he ain't got the stones to do at least that he ain't got the stones for the job.
