Now you're getting Wiggy with it

Gravatar Do me a favor Wiggy, if I got that far off the deep end when I get back in the saddle, tell me.

Please

Gravatar I'm troubled also by other right leaning bloggers who are proudly linking and advertising his new blog, without so much as a mention of what happened to cause his old blog to disappear. I believe it reflects poorly on them as well.

I would hope, that at the same time they are advertising his new blog (and I agree his "vacation" should have been longer), that they are privately speaking to him regarding what happened.

If they are, you are right that it seems to not be relfected in his writing, which is very unfortunate.

Gravatar Oh, please, that is tame, especially compared to Lefty bloggers who say much worse about Bush. The other day, When I was at Wal Mart the other day, I saw a young woman come in with at Fu-- Bush t-shirt(and there were no dashes)
Jealousy, perhaps?

Gravatar Did he ever apologize or at least mention to some of his "friends" that what he said was emotional and went over the top?

Gravatar "Oh, please, that is tame, especially compared to Lefty bloggers"
-Funny thing about "the right"... we tend to hold each other accountable...

Gravatar (Eh... most of the time...)

Gravatar I'm with you, Widgerson. I've been saying this all along. On his old blog he did speak about his own mental health issues and troubles. He's had at least one other temporary blog shutdown preceded by a public cry for help, right?

I'm all for free speech, so when it comes to blogging by the disturbed, perhaps it's therapeutic. Perhaps this is the route that will lead him to a less fear-driven view of the world. I agree with Nick as well, but I'll commend WLP, B&S and BBA for their expressed disapprovals. Why the cheerful "welcome back" from BB and RDW without a peep of explanation for the flushing of the old blogs and the creation of the new? Maybe they like Peter's mad-dog style. Let's hope the counseling happens privately in all cases. Maybe they can get a group rate.

Compare and contrast to the threat made by that teacher on B&S. That made the papers. On the same blog, Peter says he wishes he would take Obama's life and wishes death on the entire populace and what happens... not much... unless of course he was actually interviewed by the Secret Service. The difference? In the former, the super took the bait and launched an investigation. In Peter's case, we have no evidence at this point that anyone actually complained about his threat.

Apart from the personal side of his blog, it's entirely amusing to see Peter's view of executive orders. I wonder what he thinks of signing statements. Also, Peter is perhaps trampling on the intellectual property rights of the original The Underground Conservative blog.

Dan, get real. What Peter said about Obama was “I don’t hope for his success. In fact, I seriously hope this country gets attacked by terrorists over and over again and every possible bad thing that can happen does happen … to people like you. If I had the money, I’d put a bounty on his melon. Seriously.” You think that's "tame" and equivalent to that t-shirt?

Gravatar John, read the link James provided and then come back and apologize.

Gravatar Dan, yes, I'd read the Allah post. It's ridiculous. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have assumed you were talking about Peter's threat.

So what do you think of his threat? Tame like a t-shirt?

Gravatar Dan, the point is I fail to see how doing anything the equivalent of the aforementioned t-shirt helps the political right at all.

I'll concede there's a double standard. Thank God we're held to the higher standard.

In all seriousness, I think Peter's "Allah has spoken" line was actually worse than the t-shirt, given the context. And I say this as a blogger with very little tolerance for foul language.

Gravatar I think this is a good opportunity to see which right wing partisans are truly bonkers, and which are not. I think most of us would agree that Wigderson and Owen Robinson have a great deal more integrity and better reasoning skills than Real Debate Fred and Badger Blogger. It says a lot that the former two, and a few others, called out the craziest of the bunch, and the latter two joined him.

Dan, what's at the link that supposedly makes Foust wrong? I'm not saying nothing's there, I just don't see it.

Gravatar Wigderson,
As a person that is not on either team, I do not see this double standard you are talking about. Typically, the far-righties criticize the lefties regardless of whether the same behavior is present on their side, and vice verso. The more reasonable on both sides don't bite on that kind of thing. I'm actually surprised you are here.

Gravatar Well done, James.

Gravatar James-

Two things:

1) Thank you.

2) And I say this as a blogger with very little tolerance for foul language.

Gravatar Badger Blogger now says Peter said something inappropriate at Drinking Right, too. Anyone care to explain?

The Thoughtful Conservative also spoke out quite early.

Gravatar John, I believe you misconstrued Patrick's statement at BB. I believe the "said" still refers to what Peter posted on THEB and at Owen's.

I wasn't part of every conversation at DR that night so I can't say for sure. There was frustration, but I don't recall any violence threatened.

Gravatar John, what Peter posted at B&S was inappropriate and over the top, though I don't take the threat seriously.
jesusisjustalrightwithme: John commented on what was posted at Boots and Sabres and Jameslinked to a differnt post.
Capper: groan....

Gravatar Dean, the BB comment says "election night" which would be Tues. Nov. 4, the night of Drinking Right. Peter made his melon comment a few hours later, posting date of Wed. Nov. 5 00:12.

Gravatar This post notwithstanding, in the past there's been a lot of denial among local bloggers about Peter. Take a step back and look at what he writes. Tell me you don't think it's possible that we'll be reading something tragic about him in the newspaper. Will we say "gee, maybe I should have said something to him"?

The dude needs a frickin' intervention. I suspect he has few friends, so maybe some of us should try to talk to him?

I just don't feel right about leaving it as is. I'd rather make an ass and a pest out of myself than to regret later the fact that I did nothing. Anyone agree?

Gravatar I'd say Peter has lots of friends. However, many are probably Catholic and therefore well-trained in the repressive arts and "straighten up" styles of therapy.

Gravatar Is there a fissure forming within the rightside of the cheddarsphere between high-brow and low-brow conservatives with support for Peter as the lithmus test?

Gravatar I don't care if he thinks W is a moderate and successful president and says so every day on his blog in all caps. What's worrying me is that the level of anger and hatred consistently reflected in his writing goes well beyond what I recognize as normal and healthy.

Gravatar Yep, 3rd Way, it's shaping up to be as controversial as the long-standing Wisconsin battle of the high-land farmers versus the low-land muck farmers.

Gravatar Capper, Dan: Fowl language. Oh well.

Gravatar I like the Catholic comments the best.

We're fair game.
