Oh wow I so cannot agree with you on the Chuck E Cheese thing. I unfortunately moved to this area from Manchester NH where the CEC around the corner was a saving grace. Taking toddlers to age 6 set here and spending the 20-30 dollars on tokens got us all out of the house on many a cold winters day or evening. The little ones got tired out and my spouse and I shared a beer while the kids slugged down juice and pizza. Just one of those inventions, (CEC!) that have helped in this long tiring journey of parenthood. (Well so far anyway)
Whats wrong with the parents that can handle a beer (were not talking DUI quantities here!) to ease the pain of the sheer chaos of being around small human beings whose id controls their every move? The whining the sibling rivarly, the fact that we dont have large colorful arcade style machines in our home (who does?) that can distract them for a short while? I used to roll my eyes when going by a CEC or seeing their TV ads. Oh but that was BC, "Before Children" - when spouse and I had lives.
Parents are so pressured these days with what to feed their kids, how to discipline them, how to bring them up so they wont wind up in therapy half their lives. The only people who have similar opinions regarding establishments such as CEC and the idea that (goddess forbid) oooh gasp horror may want to apply for a license so that mom or dad could sip beer while their kids get their relentless-action/adventure-film-like-enegry out probably do not spend much time with very young children.
