It is odd that you would test their moderating system with a comment labeling someone a "crackpot". (I agree with the characterization, but name-calling is name-calling).

Maybe someone should devise a list of acceptable non-offensive labels that can be used when commenting.

It's not timely enough to test it now, but when Kennedy's surgery was announced, I toyed with the idea of a faux press-release along the lines of:

Kennedy Slated for Brain Surgery
Washington, D.C. [AP] A team of the nation's finest proctologists have been assembled...

I wonder if that would pass the new editorial muster.

As an aside, the spellchecker on the new Firefox (v.3) suggested I change "proctologist" above to either:
- gerontologist;
- paleontologist;
- herpetologist; or
- parasitologist.

Ask me again why Firefox is my favorite browser...

My comments have been yanked several times. It seems that is conservatives that are being pulled, not liberals. The liberals can say whatever they want. Heck, I called a criminal a thug and they yanked that. I guess you can't insult a criminal.

I think we should run a contest to see how many times our comments can be deleted from the Cap Times. It's amazing how this alleged liberal/socialist newspaper, that values free speech, deletes comments, mostly from conservatives, for the stupidist reason. So much for freedom of speech. If you want to see what will happen when the Democrats take over in 2009 and enact the Fairness Doctrine, just look at the Cap Times.
