Gravatar Tonia,
I'm so glad they found out what was wrong and he's doing better. We went through something very similar with my son in November. What was the GI's name? We had Doctor Lim and he was supposed to be the best pediactric gi. We had the weight loss problem, too, so I know what you mean about people thinking there's something going on. Hugs to all of you.

I'm going to HH on Saturday. Won't have any money to spend, but I'm going to walk around and look. I'd love to meet you in person.

Gravatar Oh Tonia, so glad to hear that James is better. When we were dealing with food allergies with our youngest I found a gluten free sorghum flour at twinvalleymills.com I had recipes for muffins, cookies, and donuts I made with it. Try buckwheat (not a wheat--seems to me it is rhubard or some other strange family of plant) for pancakes. Tinkyada makes a pretty decent rice pasta--holds up well--doesn't go all mushy. Keep up the good work with him. I know it makes you feel so much better to see him an active boy again!

Gravatar It must be a relief to know what was wrong! At least now, you know what to do and you're doing a great job. He's looking so much better.

Hope you have a great and successful day at the Fiber Fest.

Gravatar found you through your comment at Punkin's Patch.

I know SO many people with Celiac Sprue! My son's youth director has it and told me that half of the people on his mom's side of the family have some variation. He said they make a lot of things from flours like rice and barley and so forth. He said he doesn't feel like he misses out on much because his mom has been cooking like that for a long time.

Anyway, just wanted to share that I "borrowed" your meme from many moons ago on my blog post today.*G*

Molly

Gravatar I'm so glad to hear that James is getting better. I wish him continued good health.

I wish I lived close enough to attend the festival but I can't wait to here how you made out and maybe see some pics.

Take care!

Gravatar Enjoy Hoosier Hills! Sorry to hear about James, but glad that he is doing better. This will certainly be a lifestyle change.

Gravatar I was thinking about you guys a lot during James' hospital ordeal. I'll be on a frightening budget, but I'll see you this weekend!

Gravatar Wow, what an ordeal! I am so glad it is something fixable, though. My Aunt had Celiac, too, and her recovery was amazing once she cut out all gluten. I really hope you all get settled in soon.

Gravatar Girl, I've been wondering about you! I'm sorry you've been going through all that - so scary! I knew going gluten-free is tough because I've cut waaayy back on my wheat intake over the past week, but I didn't realize it was in that many things. Have you tried other grains, like kasha and quinoa? Quinoa is really good and easy to cook, I bet James would like it too.

Best of luck you to your family, I hope things get easier! Wish I could come spin, but you know, there's that pesky 6 hour+ drive...

Gravatar I'm glad that James is well on the way to recovery! It sounds like it was really stressful.
Good luck at the festival!

Gravatar I am so glad that you got James feeling better!! I know that had to be stressful for you. Have fun this weekend!!
