Gravatar I have a similar problem with the metal Addis, but not the lace. I think it is the metal reaction with our skin, I do...

Gravatar I used to have that problem with my jewerly also, I thought it was a possible brass content? I think it has to do with your body and the metal content of the needles...so sorry!! Hope you find a solution!

On the other hand, Congratulations to you & your hubby for your next baby!! That's wonderful news!! I saw your ticker.

(pregnancy may cause those "weird" things and may be why your needles are doing that)

Blessings!
Mrs.C.

Gravatar I haven't had this problem with Addis, but I have had it with jewelry with too much nickel in it. My finger turns black. Have you had any problems with nickel allergy? I can't wear earrings unless they have very little nickel; even some expensive ones make my ears swell.

Gravatar That is bizarre! I've read lots of blogs about these needles and this is the first I've heard of this black residue problem. I would have thought it was a finishing oil on the needles until I read about Carol's experience. Have you tried wiping them down before using them?

Gravatar hmmm.... i borrowed a pair of addi needles for a pair of socks from a friend and i had this same problem. now my yarn was dark so i don't know if their was residue on the yarn but my fingers definitely turned black. i showed my friends and they said this had never happened to them. i wondered if it is just my body chemistry since certain metals in jewelry leave a dark residue on my skin after a short time. i'll be checking back to see what you find out.
carol fun

Gravatar I have only one pair of the Lace needles and was lucky, no black fingers or yarn. The brassy smell does however bother me. I hope you get a pair soon that won't discolor you knitting or your hands
