Nonsensical comments, abuse, baiting, ranting and leftist stupidity will not be tolerated.

Gravatar Kids being stolen was only a part of it.

Have you read Bruce Elder’s “Blood on the Wattle”? Have you heard about the massacre of the Kalkadoons on 10th June, 1838? I worked with Kalkadoon and Mitakoodi people between 1992 and 1996, and the grief about their history was still palpable in the elders. If they weren’t killed outright, they died of european diseases, or developed skin infections from the lice-ridden clothes that the well-meaning missionaries supplied to cover their nakedness.

The fact that much of the intervention was well-intentioned (and occasionally “saved” children) makes no difference to the fact that children were forcibly removed. The coalition has had the honesty to support the apology, it’s regrettable that some of its supporters lack that courage and honesty.

It’s not going to solve the problem, but it’s a bloody good start.

Gravatar On the evening news last night i saw little children being made to say sorry, they even showed a little black child apologizing, i guess for stealing other black children. What a world we live in eh, small children being made to say sorry for something they don't even know about.

In my opinion it's just another empty gesture from the Dudd government, he'll say his sorry and hold hands, the lefties will feel warm and fuzzy and the Aboriginals will wake up tomorrow in the same place they are today. I'm not sorry either, i haven't done anything wrong to any people, neither have my ancestors. Count me out of this empty gesture.

Gravatar Spare me the lectures, teach. And while we speak of massacres, (although some of those never happened) let's have a minute's silence for the cattle drovers, missionaries and settlers and their kids who were murdered too, eh?
Grow up and move on.
This whole "sorry" business is a scam that will only benefit lawyers and feelgood lefty hypocrites.
In any case, I have no intention of discussing this further with you and would prefer you didn't comment under any of my posts.
Got it?

Gravatar Bad stuff happened, not just normal bad stuff, but seriously traumatic bad.

You don't deny/disagree with that do you?

Whatever the previous gov't did, they failed in preventing that bad stuff from happening.

Isn't it worth being sorry that it happened and we didn't stop it?

Gravatar How does a 6-year old stop bad "stuff" from happening?

Gravatar KG, you might want to take a look at this article.

Gravatar oh dear--cwaigyscum seems to think he's at Iain Hall's, free to crap on the carpet.
And I'm a "racist" too...
bawaaaahahaha!

Gravatar Thanks Ghandi, I just went and had a quick read. He seems to have conveniently overlooked the fact that plenty of bushmen formed stable, long-term relationships with Aboriginal women.
As for those who simply exploited them--am I supposed to apologise for their actions? Since I've never done such a thing and have no way to turn back the clock, it'd be a pointless empty gesture.
And I don't go in for those.
Chewing over historical grievances is divisive, damaging and does nobody any good. Any ethnic group could do that and for what?

Gravatar "Isn't it worth being sorry that it happened and we didn't stop it?"
Who is this "we"?
What did YOU do to stop it?

Gravatar Just three short years ago my late husband (father, Yorta Yorta - mother, a Scot) was asked by a small group of young aboriginal men to teach them some of his engineering skills. The Aboriginal Community Association declined his offer on the grounds that he was “not one of our mob”. This was not his first experience of discrimination on the grounds of both skin identification, and his opinion that to apologize to one parent on behalf of the other was an insult to both.

His take on all of this:

Simply An Australian.

I walk two paths in this life,
Of Scots and Koori blame,
Sadness and anger burning bright,
At crass commercial gain.

The politicians trumpeting,
The black man’s tribal claim,
Their discord making travesty,
Of all that has been gained.

My paths do not diverge,
To force a choice not sought,
But fellow man to fellow man,
Our places yet unbuilt,
Upon this land which owns itself,
With neither shame nor guilt.

In abandoned desert council places,
I dream and understand,
That I am reconciled.

Gravatar I'm hearing on the radio that after KDudd's speech Brendon Nelson stood up to also support the 'sorry', but the folks outside turned their backs on him.

So much for reconciliation eh.

Gravatar Reconciliation is a one-way street as far as some activists are concerned.
For them, the role of whitey is to apologise, mind our own business and pay up.
And up.
And "mind your own business" doesn't extend to cutting off dole payments and free clinics and schools and roads and housing, by the way.
Anabel above pointed out that racism isn't confined to whites, but lefties choose not to see that, being profoundly racist themselves.
(that is, for the mentally-challenged lefties reading this, racist in the sense of making judgements based on skin pigmentation, which you lot do all the time.)

Gravatar No KG, I new you wouldn't have the guts to let my comment stand.

You had to read it though and that's all I was after.

Gravatar Teach, nonsensical comments and...

Ah bugger it, not like your dumb ass can get it.. going to plan B..

Gravatar "You had to read it though and that's all I was after."

Yeah, i'm sure KG is inconsolable now that he read your comment. Thank the Lord i didn't see it, a searing intellect like you, i'm sure i wouldn't have survived it, phew, that was close.

Gravatar It wouldn't take "guts" to let cwaigy's comment stand--rather a tolerance for the odour of rotting hyena scrotum.
I prefer to think of it as a deodorizing process.

Gravatar "One of my misgivings about the apology has been my belief that nothing good will come from viewing ourselves, and making our case on the basis of our status, as victims."
Noel Pearson

Gravatar "cattle drovers, missionaries and settlers"

Or more recently, Anita Cobby and Sandra Hoare.

Gravatar During the morning, i've been listening to many, many old white folks telling us about their lives. They were taken away from their parents because of abuse or some other reason. They were sent to homes where they were abused, but there is no apology for them. I guess it's because they're white, so it's alright, some are more equal or less equal, whatever sounds best to you.

A caller also asked, what about the folks executed because of the death penalty, those conscripted to war and were killed. The lefties like to squeal that Howard and Bush must send their children to Iraq, well KDudd just sent our troops to East Timor. One could ask then, why doesn't he send his kids there, or go himself. What about those who have been failed by the state hospitals. What about those who were victims of criminals who were released early because the state thought they wouldn't re-offend but did.

What about those of us who want to bear arms but can't and then fall victim to criminals. I mean come on fair go here folks, why are some entitled to sorry, but the rest must suck eggs. I read some are calling for Britain to say sorry as well, good grief, a global weeping fest. If that's the case, let's go the whole hog then, the PM must apologize every day for the wrongs of the past to all Australians, not just some people, make it a weekly thing, all the subjects assemble for mass weeping. Otherwise it sounds kinda racist to me and leaves the country open to charges further down the track of 'sorry' for not saying 'sorry'.

Gravatar Looks like marge hasn't been taking her meds again.

Gravatar Next, the little moron tart will be converting to islam and running around in a burka, MK.
She appears to be well-qualified.

Gravatar Why should I be apologizing for something I didn't do? Let the neanderthal race that was legitimatly bettered by the strong and cultured Western race sink itself into oblivion. It and the lefties that support it.

Gravatar I don't think i have anything to apologize for either, but i don't think they're a neanderthal race.

Gravatar JO, KG, check your emails please.

Gravatar Firstly, Do or Die, the use of the word "legitimately" in this context is pretty questionable.
And to advocate oblivion for a whole people is a bloody long way from the position of anybody here at AWH, as you'd see if you care to go back through some of the archived posts.
The fact that we don't agree at all with Krudd's 'sorry" doesn't mean that we don't support the rights of Aboriginal people to a fair, just and prosperous life and that support is unequivocal.
