Fer crying out loud! Do they mean to say that those of us who enjoyed Cookie Monster and Animal are scarred for life?
Bloody fools.

Yes, KG, I'm afraid they do.
Sesame Street wen pc years ago, when Cookie Monster had to start eating healthily and stop gorging on cookies.
They also had culturally sensitive (I guess) characters for other countries, such as a little girl with AIDS for South Africa.
I've not been a big fan of Sesame Street for years because of this.
The early eps, though? Love to get my paws on those.

I grew up on the early years of Sesame Street. No wonder I'm so twisted today as an adult.

"These early Sesame Street episodes are intended for grown-ups..."
"... a world in which children played in the street, a monster gorged on cookies and a bad-tempered puppet lived in a bin...."
"...the Cookie Monster, whose penchant for devouring cookies and the odd plate or two..."
Yeah, right. That does sound like pretty adult-oriented stuff. This is akin to the way even old nursery rhymes and fairy tales are being revised, so they are more in keeping with the views of the Political Correctness Police.

Animal was always my favourite--no wonder I enjoyed blowing stuff up.

I reckon they should have made Fraggle Rock R-rated.
That show would rot your brains quicker than treacle rots your teeth. Talk about a shocker!

Phil, the aformentioned cookies are clearly a metaphor for the bloated Western Capitalist Military Industrial MegaComplex and its goal of enslaving the working classes through the promotion of mass-consumption.
The cookie monster, on the other hand, is just a big blue greedy bastard. . .
