Yeah, I'm completely confused about this 'gun control' thing we allegedly have here. I thought it meant that just anybody couldn't go out and buy a gun for no good reason. Especially not an ex-con. We wag our finger at the USA for the ease of gun ownership there, and brag about our supposedly superior 'gun control', yet from what I see, it seems the only control is on the law-abiding, from protecting ourselves in an increasingly violent and dangerous society.
This guy was on parole with a violent history, and in breach of a return-to-prison warrant. And if a report I just heard is correct, he wrote a bad cheque to buy a gun and a 1000 rounds of ammo.
I almost feel like going out and buying a gun to see how easy/hard it is. Somehow I think I'd not have a chance.
I also have a problem with the fact that our cops just stood around and let him fire off 50 shots. I suppose they were on the phone with some paper-pushing bureaucrat who told them to just act useless, until somebody actually got shot. In the meantime, allow kids in the nearby school to be traumatised and lives to be put at risk.
Yeah, I really got to go and get me a gun.

It's never publicly stated to hobble the law-abiding from protecting themselves, but that's the result. No politician or authority will tell us that we cannot defend ourselves, but by taking away the easiest means of doing so, they literally make it illegal to defend yourself.
Throw in a lot of emotions, stupidity and hysteria and most of the masses agree that we're better off making for the back fence than dealing with the scumbags ourselves.
