My sister suffers from this.
She has been known to yell at strangers for tossing a can or bottle into a public trash bin.
She recycles everything. Wags her finger at people for using paper towels and napkins. And flips the bird at people in SUVs.
She's un-happy, angry and refers to people in general as "pigs" who "shit all over the planet".
Did I mention that she's great fun to be with at Thanksgiving dinner?
This is the desired goal of brainwashing. Are you happy now, Al Gore?
This really is an illness.
Several weeks ago I was listening to NPR on Saturday morning to Car Talk with the two nasally challenged "Tappet Brothers".
This guy calls in from Oregon to settle a dispute that he was having with his girlfriend or wife about driving their convertible with the top down and the heater on.
The crux of the arguement was that the woman thought that running the heater with the top down was a waste of "energy" and therefore bad for the environment. And the man was torn, because while wanting to please his female partner he also enjoyed driving with the top down on his convertible.
The hosts of the show politely explained that the heat flowing through the heater is actually created by the motor, therefore is waste heat, so on and so forth and that drawing heat from the engine might actually make it more efficient, so they shouldn't really worry about it.
The guy goes on to explain how they recycle and try their best to be carbon neutral and both of them still had some guilt for driving with the top down and the heater on for a few blocks simply to return a movie, for example.
The guys on the show offered that maybe they should walk to the video store every other time to return the movies, which elicited the response, "Oh. Well, ok, yeah! That's sounds great! We'll try walking! Gee thanks!"
Really America? Are we this dumb? Are we?
"It may put their mind partially at ease knowing that not all experts subscribe to these apocalyptic views," he said.
While he may be sincere in saying this, it doesn't help that a complicit media keeps comparing non-apocalyptic alarmists to holocaust deniers, making things worse for these people.
