I can't comment on what is being said in the media or on the street in major European countries, but here in the U.S. I've never seen or heard- in any medium- this argument being made.
Where are these "western liberals" making the argument that Shar'ia law is misunderstood and enlightened? Can you provide some very recent examples?

Sharia law has existed for centuries in these countries.
David please tell us of your personal experiences with sharia law. Have you ever lived in a country that practiced it ?
