Gravatar Here is another for you from Pat Dollard

Gravatar This is just a small sample of what we can expect with Obama in charge.

Mark it well - dissent will NOT be tolerated in any way, shape or form.

Gravatar I don't think I like this "change" that they're talking about.

Gravatar we are on the brink of an international recession, we just passed on a 700 billion dollar bailout, in favor of a 850 billion version, congress has its lowest favorable rating in history...

and now MoDo and Frank Rich are finding anger at McCain rallies.

Their 'reporting' is the equivalent of believing that the rain outside their bedroom window is an isolated case, and that if they only looked out the other windows, it would probably not be raining.

If they bothered to mingle with the populace, they might actually find that they don't have to go to a gop rally to find unadulterated rage.

Gravatar It seems silly to blame a candidate for every action done by someone who supports him.

Or do you suggest that all of the Palin/McCain supporters are as pure and blameless as the driven snow?

Gravatar "I'm William Ayers and I approve this message."

Gravatar This is different. They are young and don't know any better. Ask Ann Althouse.

Neal J. King - that's not the point is it? First, we know (not that we have the videos) that the media lied about what some of these people said. Second, there are yahoos at any large gathering (political or not), but the media is pushing a meme that it ONLY happens at McCain rallies and McCain supporters are racist. They were not outraged by 8 years of leftists taking to the airwaves (Maher and Rhodes for example) and to the streets wishing for the assasinations of Bush/Cheney or members of the military (remember at the start of Iraq war they were calling for privates to murder their COs?)

It's pathetic. Anyone who calls Barack on anything risks being called a racist.

Gravatar "If they bothered to mingle with the populace, they might actually find that they don't have to go to a gop rally to find unadulterated rage."

Most of the numerous Republicans I come in contact with (from lifetime GOP voters up to state party functionaries) aren't in a state of "unadulterated rage"...they may be nervous, but most seem completely clueless about what's coming. They don't like Obama, sure (he's the opposing candidate), but neither do they seem interested/motivated to do anything but go through the stale old motions of GOTV, phone banks, yard signs, etc.

Where the "unadulterated rage" lies is on the left, and it has for some years. And it's only going to get worse after Obama wins on Nov. 4, when all those otherwise nice people in the neighborhood or office transition from being insufferably earnest in the quest to elect Obama to being rabidly intolerant of any criticism of him.

It's already started.

Gravatar If this is their true meaning of "Change We Can Believe In", then I'd better get guns and ammo - and I don't know how to shoot.

Their "Change" is going to lead to a civil war.

Gravatar hint to the press:

if you don't pressure the democrats to resolve the massive voter fraud being committed by acorn and the democratic secreatry of state in OH, along with the eight+ other battleground states, soon, the anger that they are witnessing is going to escalate into a civil war.

angry?

it's like reporting that a rape victim is expressing negative views of her atacker, and that she struggled, rather than just 'sitting back and enjoying it'.

if obama is going to win based on victories in the places acorn has planted its seed, it had better be by a 50k margin. It won't be that way, though.

Gravatar "Most of the numerous Republicans I come in contact with (from lifetime GOP voters up to state party functionaries) aren't in a state of "unadulterated rage"...they may be nervous, but most seem completely clueless about what's coming."

most of the 'conservatives' I encounter are in abject horror about our pending 'change' in govt. It's not a fear of becoming the new soviet union, so much as becoming 'old europe'.

clueless about what's coming?

Rassmussen has less than 20% of respondents believing Mccain will win. I don't think these people are clueless.

Gravatar "It seems silly to blame a candidate for every action done by someone who supports him."

Tell that to Dana Milbank.

Gravatar The implication that this extreme behavior is in any way associated with devotion to the One and his loyal followers is another pathetic case of Obama apostacy, AKA racism. You may think this makes his campaign look bad, but you have another think coming. The vengeance that will be visited upon the unbelievers after he ascends to his rightful position will be righteous and merciless.

Gravatar I just read the term "cold civil war" in a blog article I read this morning. I think that is a more polite expression than the one I have been using - "The Coming Shitstorm." I see this election as a lose-lose scenario. The polarization is getting deeper and wider. Neither candidate will be able to get their respective side to step back.
The Left has a deep reservoir of hate built up for the last 8 years. Should McCain prevail (unlikely), I fully expect the decibel level and uncivil behavior to spill over to the face-to-face confrontation level.
Should Obama win I do not expect the Right to go meekly into the night. The Right is fed up with the behavior of the Left for these last 8 years. I expect some intense blowback from the built up rage; think Timothy McVeigh. Am Obama administration will be seen as "The Government - The Enemy." The Left will be viewed as "The Collaborators" with "The Enemy." I fully expect a resurgence of militias.
A couple of weeks ago the CEO of Lehman Bros got punched out while he was working out in a gym. Apparently there was no discussion or argument, just a guy coming up and decking him. I wouldn't want to be a face that is associated with anyone's cause for rage. If I were a public figure (Oprah, Pelosi, Letterman, etc.,) or on the other side (Cheney, Limbaugh, Hannity, etc.)I would be on guard. Better to be safe than sorry.
I hope that I am wrong about all of this, but I live by this credo: Hope for the best; plan for the worst. I find that human behavior consistently validates this belief.
I for one refuse to participate in any political discussion with anyone other than my wife and family. I am confident that none of those folks will want to punch lights out should they disagree with me. I hope.

Gravatar Resurgence of militias? militias were mostly a myth thought up by the Clinton administration to slander conservatives.

McVeigh has nothing to do with the conservative movement either.

Gravatar 24/7 coverage if it were the other way around? Well, you're close. Frank Rich at the NYT and Dana Milbank at the WaPo have been writing about those enraged homocidal masses that attended the McCain-Palin rally in Florida. You think Rich or Milbank have written about any of those angry leftists documented on Malkin's site? Doubt it. If the gatekeepers of the liberal media don't report it - it didn't happen!

Gravatar From U.S. Code Title 22, Ch.38, Para. 2656f(d)

(2) the term “terrorism” means premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents;

It sounds like this fits the Code! Unless we want to argue that this is NOT premeditated or NOT politically motivated.

Interesting that the Media and Left are claiming that Muslims who make individual attacks that are inspired by Osama are not terrorism, and now those same people are going to argue that this is not inspired by Obama.

With the number of insane attacks and vandalisms from the Left growing as the election gets closer, it is time to examine this from a legal view point. Are Obama's fanatics drifting into a disorganized terrorist group in the current mode of Osama's friends and allies?

Gravatar And to think this is only going to get worse.

Gravatar Mark I., it just as surprising to me. I'm glad that your contacts are seeing it.

Here, though, it's just business as usual...they just want to do the same things as any other election, same old politicking practices, GOTV stuff, etc., and focus on the same platform messages (e.g.: abortion drowning out everything else). There's little recognition that the game has changed due to the economy and the new media, and this year won't just be a "shake hands after the game" good-sportsmanship exercise. It's exceptionally frustrating.

Our more libertarian people are "investing in precious metals" as well, in expectation that the civil war will become less cold in the very near future. I don't think this is a resurgence in "militias", exactly - these aren't the rednecks and hicks the militias were made out to be back in the Clinton era, these are educated, professional people investing big in combat arms and training. So, I think it's something a lot more serious, motivated, equipped, and potentially dangerous than 1990s militias.

Gravatar Should have added that the libertarian people here are frustrated by the GOP, and are taking these precautions because the state GOP won't listen and won't do what it needs to do.

Gravatar Actually, to be fair, it was the Liberals (read: Dems, only worse) whose houses and cars were targeted.

No one knows who caused the mischief but the leftist media machine played it up without any kind of investigative reporting whatsoever. Consider this - one guy claimed he went through a stop sign and almost hit a bus. Who could even back up their car of put it into drive (automatic or manual transmission) without knowing the brake line was cut?

For my money, there were a couple of incidents which got multiplied by a factor of 10. Isn't that the default liberal setting?

Gravatar "Should have added that the libertarian people here are frustrated by the GOP.."

where is 'here'? region if you like...

I agree that McCain's problems aren't a resurgent obama, as he is still below 50% on the rcp average. It's previous McCain supporters, jumping off the ship.

9/02 obama 49.2, mccain 42.8.
10/12 obama 49.7, McCain 42.4.

I'm anxious to see the outcome, if mac can get it within 3%...

even without the bradley effect, I have never seen a division between two parties that was so sharply divided along race and age.

Given the choice of having 45% of the population who are uncharacteristically older, running against 48% with the huge demo advantage on young and non-white voters, I'd take the 45%.

If 8 out 10 obama supporters show up, relative to 9 out of 10 for mccain, given a 45-48 split, mccain would win, roughly, 51-49.

Gravatar Before the lefties start doing too much of their Brownshirt tactics, they would do well to pause and remember that the folks on the right own most of the guns in the USA. The left should also worry about "The Wolverines" (and I don't mean the football team from the University of Michigan).

Gravatar Small but personal: a McCain-Palin yard sign was vandalized from my lawn at 2:30 am two weeks ago.

Gravatar These mindless thugs better get jail time. And I don't mean a couple of easy months in the county jail. They need to be sent to the don't-drop-the-soap state prison for a LONG, HARD stretch.

Gravatar Never thought to see the growth of an Imperial America in mine, or several lifetimes.
In Obama we Trust as the god Emperor will be the rallying cry. First citizen of America Obama will be just be that more equal than others as will his minions. It will start with small changes at first like Augustus did to his Roman Republic, by the end though it will be a personality cult run system of social slavery, as all empires have become, save democracies or republics. Where in theory all Men are equal. This will have the shell of a Republic only no real liberty or choice except the States dictates or social fads. Elections will be predetermined by the POTUS. Classes of division by education or job will be created & unbridgeable as will heredity, used as an excuse to keep a class exclusive & statist. The Rise of the Autocrats & Secular Absolutism has arrived under the Obama flag.

JMO

Gravatar "In Obama we Trust as the god Emperor will be the rallying cry."

While Obama may prove to be the 'token' leader of the new democratic movement, I am inclined to believe that the power will come from the 'intelligensia' in place.

There isn't a dem out there that he could hire, who doesn't have much stronger preexisting ties to the 'adults' in the democratic party.

I'm thinking pelosi is under the assumption that she will be the brains behind the presidency. Is there any legistlation/direction obama would adopt, without her tacit approval?

If it does play out, where pelosi becomes the gatekeeper of his policies, who would really be in control of the country? obama is just the final signature on whatever she can get out of congress...

mccain may have voted with bush 90% of the time, but does anyone really believe that obama will not being voting with nancy, 100% of the time?

Gravatar Does the name "Horst Wessel" mean anything?
In a comment elsewhere, I mentioned that a McCain road sign 6 miles north of Portland (Vancouver WA) was smashed down as if by a single hammer blow to the top. Are they "activists" exercising their 1st Amendment rights, or are they hired help? It was the only sign in that cluster that had been damaged.
Is there any single site where anecdotal stuff like this is being gathered?

Gravatar Are you truely such a fool? You equate tossing a fire-bomb at a fucking SIGN the same as fire-bombing people? You are insane.

Gravatar Are you "truely" illiterate? Read the links, moron, before lashing out with with your foul-mouthed nonsense.

Gravatar Hmmm . . . McCain is praising his endorsement by Leonore Annenberg, a Republican and the president and chairman of the Chicago Annenberg Challange, the organization that had Ayers on its board of directors!

Gravatar What's your point, Grumps?

Gravatar Grumps is saying mccain should shut up and kiss obama's ass

Gravatar Hey Gen. Wright:

My brake line had to be replaced recently. It was just plain old and sprung a huge leak, but I was still able to back up, stop, etc, though not without pumping several times. I drove to the mechanic in first gear.

So no, I don't buy that the MSM failed to do proper reporting. The guy's mechanic told him he was lucky to be alive, the same thing my mechanic told me. In one case the car was new. In my case, my truck was old. It is also possible the driver remembered he had an emergency brake, which are usually mechanical, and not hydraulic.

Gravatar Dude, you got linked to US News, under Michael Barone's byline! Congratulations!
