Gravatar I hear they have some nice whores working at the NYT.

Gravatar absurd, of course the paper of progressive values would have us single out one particular group for the 52 percent. Whatever.

Gravatar The total population of Mormons in California 533,741. Mormon's have large families, so at least half that number on underage non-voters. Less than 200,000 mormons were available to vote in California. It is impossible for the Mormons to have passed Prop 8 if the Obama vote hade voted against it.

Gravatar You know, they just keep sinking lower and lower -- really pathetic. NYT is finished.

Gravatar Andrew Sullivan says that yoy are totally wrong and that the NYT is correct. He says that everyone in the world knows that Moromons hate gays and the blacks love gays. So there!

Gravatar Living in Los Angeles the only Mormons I ever encounter are the one's crusing around on Sunday morning in spiffy white shirts and blue pants selling the LDS Church. Just anecdotal but that's my experience.

Gays have more to fear from each other (AIDS and other STD's) than from any one ethnic or religious group. Of course the New York Slimes would never print that.

Gravatar I think you miss the point. It's not how many votes the Morons themselves cast, but the ability of the LDS to raise huge amount of cash, north of $20M and then lie about the issues.

Geniuses, all of you. A swing and a MISS.

Gravatar Wow, that last comment was so, so, ...um..idiotic. As a Mormon, I find the scapegoating pretty silly (but not new). Yes we believe in marriage between a man and a woman. Many people I knew in California were worried about other implications like religious freedom, and the fact that it was judicial fiat. I personally am OK with Gays getting married, hey while were at it, let's open it up to any combination someone might want (Mormons have a history of alternative lifestyles).

You claim the Mormons lied ('Morons' as you put it, so succinctly cutting us down to size and showing your superiority). Where did they lie? When? How? Argue facts, moron.

Gravatar A typo is all you got. Go for it.

Another swing and a MISS.

Gravatar I'm feeling the love. And here I thought the left would be so happy winning the election.

They're angrier than ever.

Gravatar I think its incorrect to blame either group completely, both communities did contribute in a moderately significant manner.

A substantial chunk of the money to support Prop 8 did come from Mormons outside of the state, so to use statistics of how many Mormons there are in California is misleading.

And the black community did vote for it in larger proportions than others, so they too take some of the blame.

NYT will obviously lean liberal, nothing new there, but to get all het up about it is pointless. The conservatives won this round, but demographics is destiny, and eventually, this prop will pass, as the younger generation is much more at ease with the LBGT community.

Gravatar We often hear about the large sums raised by Mormons. What was the total of monies raised for No on 8 and who were the donors? Is it OK if we protest them for encouraging judges to overrule the will of the people?

Gravatar I was talking with a friend in California last night. She voted for Obama. Since she knows I'm Mormon she asked me what I thought about prop 8. Before I could say anything she went off about how dare courts overturn votes, etc. etc.

I said, "Huh. So I guess you're one of those Obama voters who passed prop 8, eh?"

There are 749,490 Mormons living in California, btw, not 533,741. But you are right--even if every single Mormon voted and voted for prop 8, we couldn't have passed it.

And as far as $$ goes, a large portion of the $$ raised for the no on 8 campaign came from out of state--some of it came from out of the country as well.

Gravatar Here's the thing as I see it - the way it's writen you could put almost anything in there:
People who like U2 tipped scale in gay marriage...
People with two feet...
People who prefer Pepsi to Coke...
People with more than five pairs of shoes...
etc. etc. etc.
