"His departure leaves the GOP with another Senate seat to defend in 2008."
I think the GOP had to defend the seat when he was in it! He did everything he could to trash "W", the GWOT, and anything else he could think of. Surely there must be a decent, conservative republican somewhere in the State of Nebraska to run for this seat. I hope Hagel doesn't let the door hit his rear on the way out. He and John Warner can form a club ~ "former members of the senate who should have retired a long time ago!"

Pianogirl88: That decent Republican you seek is Jon Bruning,Attorney General of Nebraska, who had the guts to stand up to the arrogant, bad tempered RHINO defeatist, amnesty advocate and Bush basher Hagel, when nobody else would. Thank God hagel is almost gone into the political netherworld, and we won't see him on the talking head shows anymore, because he's a lame duck. Thank you, Jesus.

I'm so glad to hear that, Jim. Now if we could just find one in the Commonwealth of Virginia like the AG of Nebraska, that would be great. I'll be so glad when Warner is gone, as well.
