Gravatar While this is a very disturbing story, it is inappropriate to so casually characterize these girls as "tramps". Among other things, we would have to compare this statistic of 17 pregnancies with prior years' abortion statistics for the same age group in the same area.

You were spot on in asking about the parents of these girls. Parents are no longer considered when addressing issues of troubled youth. It would appear that the school system has completely taken over in terms of responsibility for children. Parents are just an inconvenience that teachers and administrators occasionally have to deal with.

Maybe the girls' were just rebelling against the academic institutions who have been indoctrinating them that sex is nothing but recreation and anyone who wants to screw them is entitled to do so...and they should be grateful for it, that anyone wants to screw them.

That is the liberal message that we have been sending to young girls for several decades in schools, music and all art and in psychology. And, we conservatives have stood by and let it happen. I am only now discovering the degree of indoctrination to which my children have been subjected in school, and they are all adults. My negligence in this regard is my greatest shame. Fortunately, none of my children wound up on drugs or engaging in adolescent sex, but there is a definite negative influence from the school system.

I don't think these girls are trying to send us any political message, but we should be getting a very clear message that their lives have become very vacuous and perhaps they are looking for something to live for, instead of something else to avoid.

Best regards,

Gravatar Thanks for you comments, Gail, but in my opinion these girls are tramps. Blame whoever you want, but they made the conscious decision to get pregnant and are now basking in their celebrity. When they realize they likely have made a catastrophic decision it will be too late.

I feel sorry for the babies.
