Gravatar No, the dumbass Army Chief of Staff should have said..."Our military has become a casualty of political correctness" This Army Major (terrorist)who killed 13 people belonged to the same Mosque as the 911 terrorists. Why aren't we watching the feds invade this Mosque, and question the leaders? Oh, that would be politically incorrect wouldn't it? This is simply insane, and your family or mine are going to pay for it some day. Our country has gone completely nuts.

Gravatar Well, it does seem apparent that backlash against muslims in the military who openly and loudly express anti-American, anti-military views as well as justifications for the murders among the enemy and support for their crimes would be appropriate.

Nothing individually of course, but a bit of official notice wouldn't hurt. You know the kind that the Army Chief of Staff could implement as part of protection of forces SOP.

Gravatar he can't do anything but spout the party line, barring resignation, and this isn't worth that. My son is in Iraq, and they know all about what happened, including the underlying non-PC facts. That's what matters

Gravatar Celebrate Diversity!!!!

Gravatar People, including members of the Armed Forces, are arguing the wrong argument.

The argument is not security versus diversity: some argue for the former, some argue for the latter, and both sides assume that the two are linked, and that to have one you sacrifice the other.

Silly argument.

The correct argument has a single term: loyalty.

We can and do have a diverse military. In the past we had a more homogenous military. We can have more diversity, as much as we want, without sacrificing security, as long as every member of the military is loyal to our people and our country.

There's the rub.

Major Hasan was disloyal. He is responsible for 13 deaths and all the wounded. He’ll be held accountable. But he was clearly disloyal before the day he picked up his pistols and strode into Fort Hood. It was clear that he was broken while he was at Walter Reed. The signs were there.

So his chain of command should be held accountable too.

The Army wants diversity. That’s good. But the Army must also demand loyalty. It does, almost all the time, but some have allowed the PC nonsense to push the demand for loyalty into the background.

No longer. If you’re a member of Armed Forces, whatever your religion, whatever your beliefs, first and foremost you’re a loyal American. If you can’t be that then you can’t serve. And the chain of command has to ensure that.

Security versus diversity is a fallacious argument. The issue is loyalty.

Gravatar Loyalty is a tricky thing. It is easier to spot a failure of loyalty than to determine, in advance, the integrity of thought that promotes it.

One would wonder if we would have been better served to have had Japanese in the services when fighting Japan? I suspect we went overboard in herding Japanese into camps, however, it is difficult to determine just who is acceptable and who is not when dealing with another culture.

U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda, two American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News.
Spinning this into the PTSD storyline will be interesting.
