Gravatar So using a site designed to promote the things that interest you to promote the things that interest you is bad? Or is having motivated supporters bad for a political campaign? People using Digg to support Ron Paul shows he doesn't have any support? Huh? I'm through the looking glass here, could you clarify?

Gravatar I posted about this article as well, and it only took a couple of hours for a Ron Paul follower to find my blog and comment about it. They're an angry bunch, aren't they?

Gravatar Oh my they just don't get it.
406 Meetup groups about 20 thousand
My space friends oh that maybe 19 thousand and the You Tube people?
Then of coarse there are Facebook groups I think thats about 9000
And the Ron Paul Forums and then of coarse there are those diggers that just don't participate in some of the other forums.

Give me a break. A few people digg Ron paul articles maybe a few thousand people out of all the groups and you do nothing but whine, whine, whine.

Gravatar Wow. They're all over. Like chiggers.

Gravatar And you sir, are a complete choch-rocket.

Gravatar I am not sure what your point is. Is it to show that Digg works, and users Digg the story about things they find interesting?

You are mad because Ron Paul received attention as a result of your post about Ron Paul?

Anyways, if you think Ron Paul supporters are morons, how come you became all excited when you had a story Dugg 17 times?

I am a Canadian, so my views on Ron Paul are moot, but it is crap like this that gives the internet a bad name. This will likely be your most viewed thread ever, thanks to Digg and Ron Paul...

Gravatar RON PAUL 2008!

Gravatar Cry more Jammie. You n00b. Cry more...

Gravatar I hope you're 15 years old. At least then I'd feel bad for laughing at what a loser you are. Get a life

Gravatar btw - Jamie - your site sucks, maybe you should learn something about the technology that pays your bills, I'm all for people not being beholden to corporations for money, but the response time here sucks - but you probably dont pay the bills not or not after this article.....do you?

Gravatar I don't know what's worse, shitty blogspam like this worthless blog on Digg or people manipulating Digg.

Actually, shitty worthless blogspam like this is worse. When you learn to write more than 2 sentences on your own, post your crap on Digg, until please, don't post shitty posts that do nothing more than link other other shitty blogs.

Thank you,
Digg readers

Gravatar Holy jewish vampires, batman. 17 users digg only ron paul materials? Digg manipulation!

It's nice you quoted a completely different blog post in its entirety so you could feel the digg effect. Douche.

Gravatar I don't really see the harm in it. Everyone has an agenda they're trying to push, and I think you have to have a pretty liberal definition of the term "collusion" to refer to the Ron Paul Diggers as such.

Gravatar This does nothing but illustrate Digg's mechanics. Get over it.

Gravatar Ron Paul supporters morons? cus 17 pppl are trying to promote him? sorry i think u sir r the moron.

you'll be suprised how much other candidates manipulate internet sites for some attention.

Gravatar Oh gosh, a whole 17 diggs from political supporters of one candidate?

First, 17 is a pretty small number. It may be huge compared to zero, but it's still pitifully small compared to what it would take to hit the front page, most days.

Second, do you have any reason to believe these diggs were coordinated? (i.e. mostly coming from the same subnet, or by these users ALWAYS digging as a bloc?) In other words, even though the term "Ron Paul supporters" likely does apply, are you able to rule out that it just might be a bunch of similarly-minded individuals, acting similarly?

Third, assuming you are able to find evidence that this feeble action was coordinated, it'd be helpful if there were some kind of perspective given, relative to the online shenanigans that have been played by other groups and organizations. The 2000 Democrats' "Nader Trader" website, and Microsoft's "stealth marketing" astroturf activities, back in the days of the BBS, come to mind.

Finally, it's a bit of a quantum leap to conclude based on 17 diggs that something is otherwise "just not happening." Indeed, its such a huge leap, that it makes me curious whether you have some agenda other than the ostensibly altruistic goal of exposing manipulation of the media.

Gravatar I'm not sure I understand the problem? Surely any fan of iPhones/PS3s/politicians are going to Digg those stories. What's wrong with it? Does it hurt anyone? No. It simply promotes the chosen subject.

I think the real question should be: does Ron Paul deserve the attention he is getting? Or NOT getting as may be the case in mainstream media!

Gravatar Go Ron Paul Go!!!
http://tekgnosis.typepad.com

Gravatar Ron paul? Who is taht? Digg army fails.

Gravatar This story already made the front page of digg, and your copy/paste is just kinda dumb considering that. At least the Ron Paul supporters put up unique stories.

Gravatar I for one applaud any and all support for Ron Paul... I think you are a nit for your blog repost of someone else's lame and questionable blog entry...

Ron Paul is the best chance for getting America back on track...

I'm not even registered on Digg, so I can't "Digg" stories, but I think this nonsense of people claiming Ron Paul supporters are spamming Digg is exactly that.... Nonsense...

I would suggest learning a lot more about Ron Paul and his views... If you aren't brain dead or completely hypnotized by our political system, I find it hard for anyone to not think he is a breath of fresh air in the intense stink cloud that is our current presidential candidates...

Gravatar in not even from the USA, but having heard what the man has to say, i think hes worth listening to. even if u might not agree with everything he has to say (he's pretty radical about his views of freedom), he seems to not only talk honestly, but with more braincells than your average candidate nowadays.

Gravatar boobs rule lawlz

Gravatar Somebody alert the press, OMG how can this happen in the US. People are bookmarking articles about people that interest them. This must be stopped, this is disgracefull if this continues paople may actually, god forbid ,vote for people they like. Oh wait a second we don't want word of this to get out. Somebody please call Mr Chertoff and have this blog sanitized.

Gravatar You seem to be very upset that other people have opinions that are not your own. Ron Paul 2008! Open your eyes, rEVOLution!

Gravatar I wonder if they digged this article too

Gravatar This is pretty funny, actually. Apparently, mentioning 'Ron Paul' three times or more in a single blog post summons his supporters to flock and gather and peruse. Since his supporters tend to be the web-fringe type, it may do you well to continue to mention him! Just wait, your blog will take off before you know it. I want royalties when it does. ^_^

Gravatar Saw this on Digg, and personally I think this blog post is just a stunt to get more traffic. Could anybody POSSIBLY be outraged over a few people DIGGing a blog for a political candidate??? Seriously, get upset over the illegal stuff that happens in campaigns all the time. Wow.

Gravatar I read digg almost everyday but it never occurred to me to join digg. Why would I care about giving out free opinions? I'm a consultant, I charge money to discuss the color of the sky. I'm not a charity. But Mike Gravel pricked my interest then Ron Paul actually caused me to become a digger. I read every word of the Ron Paul articles BEFORE I digg them. I thoroughly enjoy them. I rarely digg anything else unless I'm in a weird mood and it's a super grat story. I only digg positive gravel/paul stories. I have not voted for anything since Ross Perot and never thought I would. Quite the opposite, I operated rigged elections at bare as you dare and wet tee shirt contests. This is the only comment I've ever made on Digg.
So count me as one of those ultra legitimate diggs drawn by Ron Paul.

Gravatar Boo hoo...

Ron Paul's supporters utilize social sites such as Digg to get him a little support and exposure, and we get this backlash accusing us of manipulation. Your outrage couldn't be more fake and manufactured.

Are you angry because the other presidential candidates didn't think of it first? Its okay, at least the mainstream media are still in their collective pockets.

Gravatar The Digg group appears to be a very protective, excitable group.

I don't know that the author covered the topic very well, but he raises an interesting question.

My awareness of Ron Paul has certainly increased because of Digg. If it is a relatively small group of people promoting Ron Paul through Digg I think it would be interesting to know that. I wouldn't be offended and it wouldn't change my level of interest in Ron Paul, but it would be good to know whether the stories are really gaining broader popularity or whether the large number of Diggs represents a smaller, but determined group that feels very strongly about Ron Paul.

Gravatar wow heres an award for intelligence

Gravatar I'm sorry Mr. Jammiewearingfool, what should I be digging and what should I be thinking? I really should consult you before using my brain, I'm such a MORON!

Gravatar "Idiot" enough said.

Gravatar I agree with the many people who say this is no big deal. Maybe you should thank Ron Paul and his supporters, they have provided additional traffic to you blog. Would you prefer no one read your articles? Seriously, this is no bid deal, would you be complaining if this was one of the big, sold-out candidates? probably not! Because those people are not trying to get noticed... listen to Ron Paul... he is passionate, honest, and hasn't changed his vision ever! How many other politicians can you honestly say that about (the rest of them "flip-flop" all the time). At least Ronny is honest with you, and his supporters love him, enough anyway to Digg your posts. Hell Ron's name in the article got me to read this things, so c0unt your lucky stars and stop wining please!!!

Gravatar i still like boobs lawlz

Gravatar I find it nice to know that the only dirt that people can possibly find to throw at Ron Paul is that his supporters are too zealous.

I've been looking for something bad about him because I find that its hard to believe that anyone is so squeaky clean. And here it is... the aweful truth here for everyone to read! He has 17 Digg supporters! Oh my god... he should resign.

I hope they have sarcasm on your planet.

Gravatar Ron Paul is a nutter who only the weak minded support ...

Gravatar Oh man! People using a site to promote things they are interested in, that is a total conspiracy! why isn't there this kind of animosity towards the iphone?

get over your self.

Gravatar EAT ME. I NEVER DUGG ONE PAUL STORY.

YOU SUCK! YOU BITTER IDIOT!

Gravatar I confess. I was one of the diggers. I went there because you said something about Ron Paul. I am interested in Ron Paul. He is the branch to an America falling off the cliff.

You are a little less significant. You informed me somewhat about the history of digg, though. So I dugg your story, thinking others might be interested.

I believe people REALLY need to hear about Ron Paul, though, so I am off to vote on the best way to get that done. I hope you become more significant.

Gravatar Instead of just voting based on political affiliations of opinion of so called experts on CNN and Fox, people should do a 2008 Candidates Comparison and vote based on issues. The 2008 Candidates Comparison table is one of the most comprehensive comparisons i've seen on the internet.

Gravatar You're a fucking troll. You repost someone else's inaccurate post like it's your own.

That is against Digg's policy you scumbag.

Gravatar Seriously dude, I don't see how this proves anything? If you cannot account for many Ron Paul articles that have thousands of diggs with your 'proof' then what basis does this article have?

Did you not get an exit strategy from the land of stupidity? I think there is an updated copy you should have received from neoconfrenzy@destroyamerica.com

Cheers

Gravatar I was an independent (fiscally conservative / social liberal) that recently registered as a Republican so I can vote for Ron Paul in the primary. Last election I voted for Gore primarily because I feared what a conservative supreme court might do to our open society and because I felt tricked by the Bush administration regarding our misguided intervention in Iraq. I also felt that a government that can do less is one that is preferable (dem white house vs repub congress/senate) which is also why I was happy to see the dems take congress (although they have disappointed as always). Basically I am of the opinion that both parties are exactly alike, are on the wrong path, and are taking our great country away from the principles that MADE IT GREAT to begin with. I want change.

I started reading about Ron Paul a couple of years ago as I learned more about the Austrian school of economic thought and was immediately attracted to his other views regarding Constitutionalism and a defensive but non interventionalist foreign policy.

Austrian economic principles are humane, sound, and anti-statist. They are NOT taught in our universities. Learn about them and you will be enlightened as to how the world has truly worked for the past 90 years.

I came across digg fairly recently and go to the site to see all of the articles that are on it but I always look for stories about Ron Paul. I am excited about this man, his message, and what he stands for. I donated money to his campaign (first time I have done that in my life), I registered as a Republican (was always an independent), and I Digg stories about Ron Paul that speak to me and that I feel are accurate and descriptive about his views and character. I am an independent American with no affiliation to any organized Ron Paul campaign and I am a staunch supporter. I don't spam or double vote or whatever Ron Paul supporters are being accused of. I am a real person and I want him to get the Republican nomination and to be the President of this country. Please lord don't give us another Clinton or another neo-con. The world and our country can't take it.

And to the author of this article. I think it is OBVIOUS after reading the comments on your site, Ron Paul supporters are real people that aren't colluding to drive him up Digg. He has a good message that gives people who think for themselves hope. Sadly, I guess that IS hard to believe these days. Thank you

Gravatar boohoo. someone call the wahhhbulance. Get over the butt-hurt and grow up, man.

Gravatar "GET A BRAIN, MORANS!"

Gravatar You said:

UPDATE 7/5/07: Thank you, Ron Paul Morons, for proving the case of the author linked above. This post has generated over 350 Diggs.

Please keep the insults coming.

I'm sorry, how does this prove your point? Your REPOSTED article is baseless and weak. I am a registered Democrat who usually votes liberal across the board, but Ron Paul has challenged the way I traditionally think about politics. Oh yeah, and I've never Dugg a single one of his articles.

Gravatar Wow, this is so insulting to so many people, and you ask why they are angry? Well, I support ron paul, but I am not a fanatic, I simply think that he has a new message that we don't get to hear very often and the media is totally ignoring him, so what other choice is there than the internet? How do you know that ron paul supporters do not read the articles? how do you know they are "morons"? It seems that you have done very little actual investigation and made lots of assumptions. Maybe there are some rabid ron paul supporters out there who go overboard, but you cannot deny that he has a huge presence on the internet that cannot be explained away by saying it is the feverish work of a few lunatics. I say let the man be heard, and if you don't agree, then vote for the same old candidates, giving us the same old messages we've been getting for the past 20 years.

Gravatar This guy is just another brick in the wall. Resistance if futile.

"Nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come."
- - Victor Hugo (1802 - 1885)

Ron Paul, this is your time. Shine on you crazy diamond.

Gravatar I am a major Ron Paul supporter.

Gravatar Good job Jamie. These Ron Paul people are highly annoying.

Note especially how they type way too loooong essays for comments. They always respond to a post as though someone had asked them "Mr. X why do you support Ron Paul?" So every comment starts with "I am a Ron Paul supporter and here's why..." Except no one ever asks or cares.

Gravatar your logic is so flawed it's amazing, either that or you are incapable of formulating a valid argument, either way i want me minute back

Gravatar Anyone that is interesting in watching the suppression of Ron Paul supporters, heres some *more* video evidence

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f...h? v=fKftJT54h_s

Gravatar As a non-US citizen I don't really care about Ron Paul, though it would be nice for the rest of the world if someone that wasn't a total moron was elected, from any party.

Jamie - do you realize that you're as bad as the Ron Paul supporters AND the Ron Paul bury-brigade? STOP SUBMITTING YOUR OWN CONTENT TO DIGG.

http://digg.com/users/JammieWF/n...news/submitted/

YOU are part of the problem on digg.

Gravatar Wow! 17 votes. Real conspiracy. You're on something. Someday you could even write for FOX News!

Gravatar Just a note:

There are tens of thousands of active Ron Paul supporters on the web showing their support on MySpace, Meetup, and Digg among others. Please understand that out of these tens of thousands, that the number of Diggs for this post in still in the hundreds (not even 400!). It's not all of us, only a VERY small minority. In fact, I've seen many articles on Digg that contains the words Ron Paul with maybe a dozen or less Diggs.

Most of us who use Digg do read the article. We wouldn't want to Digg an article that puts Ron Paul in a bad light, now would we?

Gravatar Last election I voted for Gore

THAT is the funniest freaking thing I've read all day.

Gravatar I am an avid supporter of Ron Paul!!! So I am supposed to be ashamed of supporting a candidate???

Go Ron Paul 2008!!!

www.RonPaul2008.com

Gravatar HA!!!
The mainstream media promotes nothing but Obama-Clinton and Rudy McRomney, but I see no "tests" here to see if they're "spamming" our televisions or radios.

But, the silenced candidates who have supporters intelligent to use the Internet are now, let's see, "morons", "chiggers", etc.

This is what happens when the Constitution is discussed. Those who enjoy slavery cry and whine, like a baby whose bottle of republicrat milk was taken away!! The Matrix has you...

Gravatar Digg is a dempcracy and Ron Paul has real support. You are wrong.

Gravatar Ron Paul just passed John McCain for campaign donations. Ron Paul is not only very popular, but he can win.

There is a coalition of support among Republicans, Libertarians, Constitution Party members, Independents, and even some "Blue Dog" Democrats.

Gravatar "How did we win the election in the year 2000? We talked about a humble foreign policy: No nation-building; don't police the world. That's conservative, it's Republican, it's pro-American - it follows the founding fathers. And, besides, it follows the Constitution."

Ron Paul 2008

Gravatar But what if they just liked your story and then dugg it?

Gravatar Moron? Maybe you should spend more time researching the topics which are being censored by Fox News and other main stream media. As you are obviously unaware the popularity of Ron Paul is purposely being excluded from these programs.

When you grow tired of American Idol, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and other tireless trinkets ... Research the truth at www.infowars.com

Spread the Message of Ron Paul via www.ronpaul2008.com

Gravatar Actually we do read your crap, we may not agree with it, but if your going to give Ron Paul a boost negative or not, it doesn't matter to me. I think it's funny you consider 17 diggs spamming or something?? 17 please. You should be Happy someone is reading you at all. I'd rethink your postion, maybe you should support him in your writing regardless if your going to vote for him, as he may just make a name for you that your obviously unable to make on your own...

Gravatar HeatherRadish:

I meant to write Kerry (not Gore) when I referred to my vote in the last election. Ooops!

That said, if my (very obvious) error of carelessness was the funniest thing you read that day then sadly you are missing a tremendous amount of hilarious material offered daily on the 'interweb'.

I can give you some suggestions if this too is a struggle.

Gravatar You sir, are an idiot. Why WOULDEN'T Ron Paul Supporters DIGG The articles that mention his name? Do you want them to DIGG Guiliani's articles? I laugh at your stupidity. Btw I'm going to go digg every Ron Paul Article I can find.

Gravatar http://tinyurl.com/36nvjj

Just say NO to RP and marijuana

Gravatar at this point any press is good press. thanks for the slam, stan

Gravatar latest number is up to 2209 and I cross referenced your blog a few places because of these moron supporters and the botnets that have been digging any mention of ron paul, good or bad

Gravatar I am proud that we are using Digg to bring Ron's message to the masses. This just probes that the reason we have so called "front runners" is because the main stream media anoints them. We are approaching a time when it wont take a billionaire to win an election because the people once again have a voice. The people are speaking and the message is WE WANT OUR LIBERTY.

Digg is just a tool we are using to get past the corporate owned networks. Once people learn what Dr. Paul has to say most people prefer his honesty to the BS we get fed by the rest of the robots.

Gravatar Attack of the paulistians...

Note how many of them are also truther freaks...

But.but.Ron is a REPUBLICAN...so he has to be "in on it too"...

Suckers...one and all...
