Oh how delightful! If you came to Scotland, maybe you could swing by London? What's a few hundred miles? There's a lot to be said for being open and honest and I like what happened with this guy. He sounds nice. I haven't got anyone to write a frickin note to, never mind a long letter I must read your other post tomo. Must go as eyes closing!

I can't believe I'm saying this, but if I go on this quixotic journey, I will stop in London to see you! But of course!

Gravatar I'm completely torn about this post. My rational side says that this is crazy and you're just having an imaginary fling on-line. You really don't know anything about this guy and you're letting your emotions get the best of you. My romantic side says "go for it." Which side do YOU usually listen to?

It doesn't feel like a fling because there are no sexual overtones. it's all one big, romantic, intellectual wish-fest. Unless he's lying to me, I do know quite a bit about him. Not enough, but a lot.

I always let my emotions get the best of me--you are quite right.

I always go with my gut. Which means there is a good chance I'm going to Scotland.

I can't believe I said that.

Gravatar I am going through something similar with a guy I met online. We exchange long and detailed letters, and have enough in common interests to take it seriously.

Strangely, I have had trouble writing and meeting other men during this process although Man X and I have never met.

Good lord, this dating thing is confusing, but I relish the long emails from him on boring days, any day actually...

Go to Scotland if you want. I love a good story, and that would be a hell of a story to tell if it works out. Otherwise, have a nice vacation, and maybe you'll meet someone else there!

I worry that it is just something to escape into, not a real thing, and will distract me in a harmful way from "real life."

But reall life dating SUCKS so maybe an escape is in order.

Gravatar On the plus side, it has a nice 84 Charing Cross Road-ish thing going for it.

I like that part. Never did read that book, though...

Gravatar Oh, how romantic. I'm jealous. and happy for you.

Thanks. Don't be jealous yet! This is all in my head so far.

Gravatar I'm glad you two are enjoying each others' writing. My limited online dating experiences have been my long and rambling emails and a few-line responses....*sigh*....my mom said I should never have gotten that English degree!

English degrees rock. I have one too.
