I dunno...it IS kind of funny to think about what went into those humongous every-day meals compared to today. But still -- four things to clean for something some people are barely going to pick at? That kind of work is why I only cook casseroles or huge family dinners anymore.
I take it you turn up with all the cleaning, too?
I'm picky about my tools, so yeah, I generally end up doing the dishes by hand. That is to say, the pots and pans and bakeware and implements of construction. Glasses, plates and flatware can go into the electric scullery maid, though.
