I can't believe that this is even real. Are there really people out there that get this upset? Surely he was simply bored when this whole thing broke.
BTW, I guess I don't get the soccer name.

As for it being real, I'm not completely sure it is either. I searched the Houson Chronicle website and couldn't really find a whole lot of naysayers. I think this author might have played a little fast and loose with the truth.
The soccer name? I guess it's important to remember that most Euro clubs are just that, clubs. They don't really have mascots, per se, just the name of the sports or football club/organization. That's sorta what they're going for here.

There were local, Mexican leader-types making some noise about this in Houston. I guess we'll have to wait and see if the average Mexican cares.
To me, the funniest thing is that Trecker references Houston's Latinos (instead of Mexicans) throughout the article. Are we supposed to believe that any of Houston's non-Mexican Latinos care if the name is an insult to Mexicans?

Bryan makes an excellent point. The last time I checked, non-Mexican Latinos don't like Mexicans at all. AT ALL. Puerto Ricans will cut you if you refer to them as Mexican...and Cubans, well forget it!

Apparently someone does care. They're changing the name. They'll anounce the new, improved name in the next couple of weeks. I'm voting for the Houston 'We Love Mexicans' FC.
