I've just heard the CD in my local pub and it sounds pretty good, nice and punchy. Most importantly, it's out (on this side of the pond at any rate) at a low price - about 12 euros). I wouldn't mind getting Stars and Bars too; roll on payday...

Stars and Bars is a great record...I really like the first side. Oh how silly of me- the first five songs. The rest of 'em aren't bad either, but I still can't get over how disappointing the studio version of "Like a Hurricane" was, especially after seeing him perform it live on TV before I heard the album. The versions were almost identical, but it just lost something in the translation, to me. It's still a fine song, though.

I have a feeling you're already familiar with it, but if you haven't heard it I recommend Hawks and Doves very highly. It's a great -albeit short- album.
