Love both those Sgt. Pepper tracks, though I'll admit that the Harrison track took longer to sink in than the McCartney. What's worth noting is the fact that the Eastern sounds which once seemed so exotic on those old Beatles discs have now become one more bit of pop sweetening: it crops up on Liz Phair's new bid for "commercial" acceptance, for instance. . .

Good point(s) Bill - though I think the appeal of Pepper has more to do with the novelty of bringing this stuff in early, when it wasn't "popular" - though it's not my fav Beatle album, I like the fact that every track has a spirit of innovation, of trying sthg. for the first time.
[And Liz Phair has lost the plot, of course.] : )
Fixing a Hole has to be one of Macca's best ever songs - though it took me a while to realise it.

'Fixing a Hole' is class, and I love 'Frontin'--it's one of my favourite pop tunes of the year so far. So smooth, without being too cheesy.

There is actually--did you miss that memo?

Heh, guess I did.
Yeah, anytime anybody wants to add some retro psychedelic flavor to one of their songs, out comes the sitar. I gotta admit, though, that I've liked what I've heard from Liz's new one- which admittedly is only a song or two.
