Gravatar I remember a friend digging out his old vinyl copy of that Hoople album; probably not a pristine live document, but, in the true spirit of Mott, great fun. I remember reading somewhere (I think in the All The Young Dudes biography) that during the spell in New York, Jim Henson's Muppets actually joined them onstage for "Marionette". Now that would have been a gas, especially if pictures had survived.

Gravatar That would be cool to see, no doubt!

One of the oddest things about that album, speaking of puppets, is the back cover photo which shows Ian and the boys surrounded by marionettes, obviously performing the song of the same name...but frustratingly absent from the track list. I wonder if the tapes from these concerts survive, and wish some enterprising record company would see fit to put them out , preferably nicely packaged with lots of pictures and such. In fact, I wish the entire Mott The Hoople catalogue could be remastered, repackaged, and rereleased a la the Rhino reissue of T.Rex's Electric Warrior.

If wishes were horses, dreamers would ride.

Gravatar Go Sharks!

Ooh, a Sharks/Flames conf final?
Sweeet!

Gravatar Hey, I kinda like the Sharks, too- just not as much as the Flames. If it comes down to one of those two representing the West, then that would be OK by me.

Sharks vs. Flames...sounds like something out of West Side Story, doesn't it?
