Gravatar Damn, this is depressing but not surprising. Agree that Quine did some wonderful work with Sweet and the rest, though the first time I remember him blowing me away with his guitarwork (very reminiscent of the Magic Band at the time) was as a member of Richard Hell and the Voidoids. . .

Gravatar He could bring a number of different styles to bear, no doubt. This may come as a big surprise to you (insert rolleyes smiley here), but I've never listened to Richard Hell and the Voidoids...and now I'm thinking maybe I should someday.

Gravatar Years ago I used to have a VHS of A Night With Lou Reed, a live thing from 1983 or so. Quine played guitar in Reed's band at that time and he was utterly astonishing.

Bill is right to compare the stuff he did with Ivan Julian in the VoidOids to the Magic Band guitarists, though I'd never thought of that.

Robert Quine was an absolutely unique talent, one of a kind. RIP.
