Gravatar another splendid list!

with all of these great reasons to love comics floating around, I don't see how anyone could be "worried" about the medium!

(worried about the current output of the "big two"? sure... but that's a different thing!)

nice spotlight on Everett's last fling on Submariner, by the way...those are some weird and wonderful books!

Dave

Gravatar Super Hip! I can't believe I forgot SUper Hip!

Gravatar Great list! You mentioned several I can't believe I missed (such as THE SHADOW and FLEX MENTALLO), and I was happy/surprised to see someone else listing the Rachel Pollack DOOM PATROL (even if it was only the last few issues).

Gravatar Dave: For sure- It's a shame that Everett didn't get to do very many before he passed, but he went out in style, I think.

Will: Super-Hip is the Official Mascot of the JBS! I used to have his pic on top of the links box...

John: That last DP arc Pollack wrote, with the Hebraic magic and the holy grail, was inspired- or so I thought anyway. Made me wonder where that had come from all of a sudden, because I never really thought she was comfortable following Morrison before.

Gravatar I wasn't shocked to see Thriller in the first spot, but I was shocked to see that Fred Hebeck failed to make the list.

Gravatar Hembeck that is

Gravatar Yeah, that's true- but I did mention him in the intro, plus technically he is a member of the Comics Blogospheriwhatever...and I closed by begging people not mentioned to not take offense!

Fred knows that I got nothin but mad love fo' his shizzle. I hope.

Gravatar What I wanna know is why hasn't anyone mentioned the Thunder Agents in these lists? I'm sorry, but I had those books for years and loved them!

Gravatar OMG, that's a LIST!!!
I'll have to done of these, myself, if I get the time.

Gravatar #26 - Joe Letterese, i think you're thinking of. Ask Hembeck, I'm pretty sure I got the name from one of his old strips.

#36 cracks me up, too. Not a big fan of most Fleisher stuff, but that's a good one. The Heath art helps, of course.

Gravatar I did some Googling, and discovered the message board post in which I asked that question- according to Richard Starkings, the fella's name was Ira Schnapp, who also invented that sweet liqueur...no that's not the same guy, but that's his name!

Letterese was one of those who took over after Schanpp retired, again according to Starkings.

Gravatar What I wanna know is why hasn't anyone mentioned the Thunder Agents in these lists?

Y'know, I never bought those as a kid, although I'd run across them once in a while. I certainly love Wally Wood's art, not to mention Gil Kane and Sekowsky, but I just never developed a real taste for Tower comics. My loss, I guess...

Gravatar This is good. Look for mine later today.

Gravatar Cool! Should be interesting...!

Gravatar On the money, Johnny.

Gravatar I don't think I could do 100, so I'm going to try 10, starting with the Golden Age Wonder Woman's kinky sexual overtones.
