Gravatar That unexpected reference to old Tarzan comics made me laugh. If you haven't seen Ledger in "Brokeback Mountain" then I could see how you might not have high expectations for his performance in "Dark Knight." He should have won an Oscar for the Brokeback role, but I bet he wins for this one.

Gravatar Yeah, I haven't seen Brokeback yet, even though I've had numerous chances. I've heard he was very good, and I'm sure I wouldn't have been as surprised if I'd seen it...

Gravatar I still haven't seen Dark Knight. I currently have no plans to, either.

Gravatar Have seen Brokeback; hee IS good, but I'm bored 'til they get off the mountain. Haven't seen DK (or for that matter, Batman Begins)

Gravatar I really wasn't all that fired up to see DK either, but my son came up from Nashville Friday, and was trying to decide what to do that evening- he thought about a movie, then asked me if I'd seen it yet, and we decided to go see it together.

Nice little family outing-type stuff there!

Gravatar I'll watch the flick when it's a rental. I'm still waiting for someone who has actually read a comic book to produce one correctly. Although I'm sure this is an entertaining flick as far as such goes, I've yet to see a version of The Joker appear in any movie that really looks to me like the character should, i.e., tall and lean and angled-faced. Contrary to opinion, The Joker is NOT insane; he's really extremely smart and just loves to make everyone "think" he's crazy. (Killing for no other reason than the act is not a sign of insanity, but a sign of evil.) And yeah...I'm pretty fed-up with the armored Bat-suit, and I really hate the current movie version of "The Batmobile".

Gravatar Actually, I don't mind the Batmobile. It makes more sense in the context of the movie, with the stunts it's called upon to do, than the traditional sedan-style. I do hate that armor though.

And honestly, the Joker isn't really portrayed as a lunatic- he seems to be the only one who really sees things the way they are, actually. You just can't reason with him! In the context of the film, the makeup works fine, as far as I'm concerned. It won me over.
