How the hell can you say Colan or Lieber or Colletta or Buscema or Giacoia or whomever by looking at that cover? There are no faces, no action- just Doom and a bunch of planets and stars. It could have been drawn by anyone. Why not Don Heck. Heck, why not Don Ho?
You are reaching.
Respectfully,

Well, first of all, I'm not definitively stating that it's Colan- I'm guessing. So your guess is as good as mine, unless it's Heck, then you're wrong. That's why I'm asking in the first place. I'm not sure about Ho, either- her could play a mean ukelele and rock a Hawaiian shirt like nobody's business, but I can't recall a single art credit for him at Marvel or DC.
When you've been reading comics as long as I have, and especially if you've studied to the point of being attuned to the vagaries and variances of same (even to the point of having slight pretensions towards being an artist yourself), you learn to recognize styles and mannerisms of certain artists, especially if you've been seeing their work for 20, 30 years. So that's how the hell I can "say". In case you're wondering and not just trolling.

I don't know what "trolling" is but my email was a joke (Heck it could be Ho-get it?) Sorry.

Looks like Colan to me, too, with maybe Tom Palmer doing inks. Here's a definite Colan-drawn Doom for comparison:

Dan- I got it. Maybe it was that magic word "reaching". Anyway, peace to ya!
J. Kevin: That's what I had in mind- that two parter in which he and DD switched bodies. It's a little tighter than Colan and Palmer usually were, but I wonder...

Hmmmmm... you may have something there.
The drapery on DOOM's cloak & tunic certainly have ALL the earmarks/traits of a GENE COLAN piece of artwork.
Anyone who's read his issues of Doctor Strange (and Tomb of Dracula), might think so as well.
Also, the space scene in the background is also a Colan-looking bit of art.
AS for who the INKER might be...
I'm going to say it is probably NOT Tom Palmer, since there's no use of "zip-a-tone" present here.
There looks to be SOME redrawing ("fixing") by the inker, as the final product looks a bit "slicker" than Colan's usual "organic" feeling pencils.
This appears more evident in the armor. Didn't Gene Colan's IRON MAN look more "soft and fluid" and less "hard metal" than this?
Perhaps Frank Giacoia?
I dunno.

So why is it you feel its not Lieber-Colletta? Not that I know one way or the other. I was hoping someone would make the definitive ID by now.

It just doesn't look like Lieber and Colletta's style; Lieber was never that innovative in his layouts, and the ink line is fuller and thicker than Colletta's standard line.
At the end of the day, I don't really know. It could be Larry and your boy Vince for all I know. That's why I was asking!

Well look here, me boy. Doom's arm and leg muscles are just black blobs of ink like Sinnott, Ayers, Stone, Everett, etc and not depth defined and shadowed muscles (look at any Kirby/Colletta THOR cover)like Vin. However, Doom's arms and legs are metal, not skin. No shadows necessary, only shine. Now, look at the tunic. See any Colletta there? Those planets and stars are pretty detailed too.
