Speak up!

Gravatar Thanks for this one! We named Jude for St. Jude and St. Michael the Archangel and assuming our next one is a boy like we think he is, he'll be named for St. Gabriel the Archangel and St. Paul. I guess we have a fondness for angels as well

Gravatar No kidding! Talk about putting your money where your mouth is! :-0

Gravatar I love matching your meals with the feasts of the Church! They're called feasts for a reason!

Gravatar Apparently there is a lesser known archangel named Uriel. I only recently learned about him when I found my old copy of Signs & Symbols in Christian Art and was browsing through it the other day.

So don't forget Uriel on the next Feast of the Archangels. I don't think you want to have any of them mad at you!

Gravatar Okay, so after a little more research it seems that maybe Uriel isn't venerated with the others because he's non-canonical along with his pals Raguel, Sariel and Jerahmeel. Seems like I've got some more self-catechesis to do.

Still, quite a fascinating subject these heavenly host. I feel a weekend blog entry coming on.

Gravatar I guess that explains why I never heard of him. My only knowledge comes from helping Hannah and Rose find answers for their religion classes on the archangels. I'll never forget that feeling of triumph when we sussed out Raphael. I hadn't read Tobit at the time but now it is one of my favorite OT books.

Don't forget the Guardian Angels! Their feast is Oct. 2 which is on Sunday this year so the Mass trumps them. However, I am so very attached to my Guardian Angel that I will be doing a little tribute tomorrow instead.

Looking forward to that post!
