Don't take any camel rides!

My 6 year old got bucked off one at the Oklahoma State Fair last week. He fell about 7 feet and landed on all fours, but his mouth hit the ground. He bit through his lower lip. His 3 year old brother managed to hold on until the handler stopped the camel.

Three hours in the emergency room. The little guy was a trooper getting 6 stitches outside and 5 on the inside.

He'll have an Indiana Jones kind of scar below is lower lip and a great story tell when he's older.

Ah, that brings back memories! My mouth is salivating right now for one of those Texas State Fair corn dogs and a big ol' turkey leg.

Woohoo! The State Fair! I'm pumped... I hope I get to go! Haha...

We have a ton of people in-house for the fair (lots of car show people - they're fun) and they're already giving us stuff! It'll be cool to go out and see 'em in action.

Tell Rose to bring home some funnel cake... mmm funnel cake. My bro was off (all day?) for the fair today too.

I LOVE the State Fair of Texas. I grew up in the Dallas area and still live here.

There's something magical about all the goofy shows, the Midway, "Big Tex", the food innovations (e.g. the fried twinkie!).

Also the arrival of the SFOT signals the beginnings of tolerable weather in North Texas.

I love to arrive at the fair in the late afternoon, stay through dusk as the lights begin to assert themselves against the approaching darkness on the bejewelled Midway.

Explain this injustice: our school says they are giving out state fair tickets at 930 thursday morning. i show up at 11 and they are already gone. whatever happened to just giving all the students a ticket??
