Speak up!

Gravatar I'll take 1 St. Gregory to any 3 Mozarts.

Gravatar Julie,

Great answers! I love that painting! I have never seen it before nor have I heard of the artist. Thanks for expanding my knowledge of the world of Catholic art.

Caravaggio and Mozart, yes!

I enjoyed the movie "In the House of Brede", but haven't read the book. Are they very different? Would you happen to have a review on your blog?

Gravatar I'll look into bringing the book into the store.

Gravatar I'm with you on "In This House of Brede" - that book stayed with me all the years I was away from faith. My giveaway book: "Invitation to the Devout Life" by St. Frances de Sales. Fave musical: probably Music Man, but I love the music from Guys and Dolls. Favorite male Catholic musician: John Michael Talbot was really important to my first years back in faith, but you have to like 70's-style folk rock to like him.

Gravatar INTO THE WOODS, people!! INTO THE WOODS!!

Gravatar I do like that painting too. Beautiful. Thanks for the tag! And now I'm definitely going to have to read "In This House of Brede".

Gravatar TSO, I wonder if In This House is a chick book. It might be. You'll have to let us know.

(The heck with PCness: I think there is such a thing as a "guy book" or a "chick book" just like movies of the same division.)

Gravatar It never occurred to me to thing of Brede as a chick book (and of course there are such things as guy books and chick books ... but just as I like a lot of so-called "guy books" there are guys who like chick books ... for instance Steven Riddle won my admiration forever by 'fessing up to reading Georgette Heyer and Jane Austen. )

Gravatar One of my favorite quotes to say to the kids: "Good night, good work, most likely kill you in the morning."

Gravatar Monica, keep those Dread Pirate Roberts quotes coming.

Gravatar I wonder if chicks can enjoy guy books more easily than guys can enjoy chick books?

I really liked the whole espionage series by Tom Clancy and I consider those to be guy books with hair on their little chests. But would a guy read "I Know This Much Is True?" or "Wuthering Heights" for that matter?

Gravatar I'm the same way ... with quite a few "guy" books.

Gravatar My husband was the first to read it in our house-- I read it much later, but led discussions about it in my lit groups at least two times. I believe the film is good and it actually brings out some interesting points even if not completely faithful to the book.

I love this blog--may follow up on this meme on my blog--I have a question: what about all of those blogs in blue on the sidebar?

Gravatar Ana, thanks! The blogs in blue are all Amateur Catholics. If you click on the Amateur Catholic button it will take you to the AC site, where you can send an email if you are so inclined and join.
