Great review! I was also impressed with the movie, and would list the same three favorite Pixar movies, though I've really loved all nine of them.

I also have loved all nine. Those are just the brightest stars for me in the Pixar constellation.

Loved it. Thought it was brilliant. Who could fail to see the sheer humanity in that last scene with WallE and Eve? Just amazing.
And I've heard a lot of criticism about the humans in the movie, but after working in a customer service call center, I have seen that there are people who would live like that if they could. Very very sad...but occasionally, someone wakes up and realizes that there's more to life.
Fantastic film, I intend to see it again! Next cool movie coming out: Hellboy 2!

I am curious about Hellboy 2 ... must rent the first one before that comes out ... so many movies, so little time!

I agree, excellent movie. My take was that the primary theme is learning to go beyond your limited programming to understand what is really important in life.
Wall-E does this, then he helps Eve and M-O to do it, as well as John, Mary, and the Captain. I found it very much an uplifting film.

Dear Julie,
Loved the movie--one part I haven't seen commented on was when Eve goes into hibernation (or whatever that was) and Walle takes such good care of her, even though she cannot respond.
It made me think of how we need to take care of the frail among us. The image of Terri Schaivo came immediately to mind.

Paul ... wonderful point and I think that we are going to find many layers in repeated watchings. Because I am going to have the DVD for repeated watchings! :-D

I saw and reviewed it today, too. I noticed the loving of someone incapacitated went both ways. And Pixar managed to twist Disney's tipical "fake-resurrection" ending.
My review is here, btw. (Don't know how to trackback. Sorry!)

I am still badgering Soccer Dad (who is in his Travel Man Supersuit until Thursday) about writing a review of Wall-E on our blog. The movie has SO many facets to it, and every time I ponder it, something new comes to mind. The absolute HOPE that it embodied (real hope, not the fake, running-for-president kind) was so beautiful.
I told my mom to skip Indiana Jones and see Wall-E - and to bring tissues. (I cried several times.)

Julie,
I loved this movie too. Someone mentioned the part about Eve going into hibernation. At that part in the movie, when Wall-E was covering her with his umbrella, I couldn't help but think of Joe vs. the Volcano, which is one of my favorite movies. If you haven't seen it, do!

I saw Joe vs. the Volcano a long, long time ago and just vaguely remember it. Perhaps it is time to see it again.

In everything I've read about Wall-E I find it interesting that no one comments on the hypocrisy of Disney distributing this movie. What a joke it is that a company that is all about mindless consumerism and conglomerates is the distributor of a film like Wall-E. And getting richer from exploiting ideas like the environment and the evils of big business for their own gain.

Annette, keep in mind that it IS really Pixar ... and someone's got to distribute it, right. Or how would anyone see it?
Also, keep in mind that it is not saying that big business is EVIL but that mindless consumerism is bad. Choosing Wall-E is choosing responsibly!
