Me for not being interested, either. Or in Mejurgrgr wherever. Not to be impolite, I believe those people are receiving blessings, but I would rather the Church be my teacher than private revelation. Or am I being grumpy and jealous?

Well I hope not because that tends to be my feeling as well, which is why I was so surprised to be really enjoying the book. It is very well done.
I would not mind walking the Camarino (or whatever it is called) that goes over the Pyrenees from France to Spain and winds up at St. James' church. But that's a different sort of pilgrimage.

I guess you've never seen the 1943 film "The Song of Bernadette"? Some people have said that it contributed to their conversions - including Catholic apologist Rosalind Moss. Although it is not scrupulously accurate, it is close enough & it is a beautifully crafted and powerful film. It won several Academy Awards.
The author of the book on which it is based, Franz Werfel, wrote it in gratitude for finding shelter in the village of Lourdes when he was trying to escape the Nazis.

MAB, true enough I haven't. Largely due to my disinterest in Marian visions in general.

I'm not so sure the movie is about a Marian vision as much as it is about different types of faith or different ways of intellectualizing faith or of imposing our own expectations on matters that might require faith. I haven't seen it in years but, as I recall, Bernadette is simple and somewhat "limited" in the eyes of those around her and reacts to the vision in her way; the priest has his way; Vincent Price (I forget his role) his way; the Mother Superior her way, etc.
maybe I'm wrong but it's really not about the vision itself, I don't think.
Anyway, you might be surprised by the movie's depth and actual subject matter.
