Speak up!

Gravatar Hi Julie!

I don't recall a blog that was specifically Catholic with details from each about how the faith was portrayed.

Here is a list of books that are "written by Catholics or have themes that are Catholic." from adherents.com. No commentary, though...

Gravatar I'm surprised to not see Maria Doria Russell's The Sparrow on that list. What's more exciting than Jesuits (echo echo echo) In (echo echo echo) SPACE! (echo echo echo)

Gravatar Meg: It's mentioned in Scott's "ongoing conversation" list. I tried to read it twice and just couldn't get into it. Am planning to try again, hoping the third time is the charm.

Scott: It was called ... something like Outer Space Catholic ... or some such name and he accumulated a wonderful list. But I can't find it anymore. Thanks for that list!

Gravatar It was "Speculative Catholic" who put up a great list. His blog no longer exists though, but his list lives on.

Gravatar That was it! thanks!

Gravatar Oooh! That's a great list. Thanks!

Gravatar Dang it. DANG IT. I have told myself I can't spend any more on Amazon this month! Sigh. And I have to get Eifelheim back from my boss so I can loan it to someone else.

Too many books!!!! So little cash!!!!

Gravatar Joi, you may have told me this before but do you live where the library system is limited? We're lucky because the Dallas libraries have quite a variety, even of the old, obscure books a lot of the time.

Gravatar Julie, you might want to investigate Shelfari. There are a number of groups there pertaining to Christian fantasy and science fiction. I've gleaned some interesting recommendations from them.

Also, keep your eye on Eternity Road. My own contribution to the realm of Christian SF is nearing completion. Of course, I've been saying that for about a year now...

Gravatar Hey Francis ... I've been meaning to ask. Whatever happened to the audiofiles you were making of some of your writing? The "audiofiles" category just brings up the regular blog ... and I liked listening to your stuff.

Gravatar Hm. Thanks for clueing me in, Julie. There's a lot of stuff recorded and posted, but it appears that you had to register and login as an Eternity Road member to see the "Audio File Pages" box that gets you to them. I've adjusted the templates to make login status optional. Try it now -- look down the left sidebar for the "Audio File Pages" subsection. I've made the links red so they'll stand out. (Ignore the "weblog categories" box; there's no code attached to those links.)

Gravatar I see ... that's what I get for not being a "joiner!" :-D Thanks!

Gravatar Julie, please give The Sparrow another try. I stayed up late into the night to read it.

Gravatar I definitely will ...
